PPE header / O2 conditioner question
I just bought PPE header. It came with the conditioner. My friend said that it will work without the conditioner and he installed the header without it. Will it affect the performance?
When I was looking at the instruction, it looks really complicated

The conditioner is there to fool the second o2 sensors into believing that the cats are still there so you don't get a CEL. I don't know what your friend did, but if you don't have a CEL, you're OK.

Yeah, I looked at the PPE instructions for the conditioner and immediately went onto ebay and picked up some tig-welded off-road rated CEL eliminators. Good quality pieces, and should have the same effect as the electronic box without the wiring headaches.

I just got my PPE headers installed.
Without the o2 simulator (the black box thing that splices into the ecu/pcm wiring), the check engine light (CEL) came on after about 10 - 12 miles.
I cleared it twice without installing the box and yup, both times it came back.
Been a good 200+ miles now without any CEL after the o2 simulator box was installed.

Best way to go with the simulator. When i first installed mine without it just with the o2 bug it was good just for the summer. When winter time hit and it got really cold out the CEL stayed on and never went off. Installed the o2 simulator and not one CEL even in 5 degree weather.
Did you install the headers with any O2 sims that screw into the existing O2 bungs or just the O2 sensors straight-up?
^Ok. Well that should make sense. I'd be a little worried if you ran CEL eliminators pictured above in this thread AND then got the same CELs. I've got the coated PPE headers and CEL eliminators ready to be installed as soon as I have a garage to do the install in. LOL!
