my buddy has 06 is350 resonator muffler delete. i have 06 is250 invidia midpipe, hks hi power axle back, k&n intake. even with myiter smaller engine it sounds 10x better

Understand, but what did you pay for that? Seems over $1000 when a resonator delete is $120 and if I don't like it or sounds too raspy I can add the Invidia Q300 axel back, but for another $800 ($650 for Q300 plus installation). The resonator deletes for the IS250 and the axel back almost seem to have the same sound or results. I know the Invidia pipes are a better way to go, but what do you really gain?

i got my midpipe for 175$. someone is selling hks axle back on forum classifieds for like 450$ or so. resonator delete and after market axle backs have very different sounds, videos distort the sound. when i installed all my parts i found it sounded very different from a video i saw with all the same parts (sounds better in person) . also you can get a custom exhaust made pretty cheap i believe which has a better sound than res del

if i was you tight on money i would just get the invidia midpipe. like i said you have to keep your eyes on the classifieds since it's not really a part which loses its function when used. thats just my opinion

Ok, I appreciate your input. The Invidia midpipe, does that replace the resonator ?

this is my used mid before i put it on the car. the circular part that says "invidia" on it is a resonator. it deletes secondary cats that oem mid has.

the bottom system in here is oem (top is a joe z system ignore that). the oem has a bigger resonator and those 2 bulges halfway through are the secondary cats. just so you can visualize the changes

Can anyone tell me if my stock 2012 IS250 Fsport comes with the Fsport exhaust? It has chrome tips but not sure if it what everyone is referring to as "F Sport Exhaust". The car is a full F Sport model. Would the original sticker show that? I have that still. Thanks.

I have the Invidia midpipe arriving Friday for an install on Saturday. What does the "no secondary cats" do for the car and sound?

Ok, got the Invidia midpipe installed and expected more. It sounds a little better, a little more like sports car but missing the deep tone. The sound is not even close to a resonator delete, but it is does have a subtle difference. I'm afraid I will need to upgrade the axel back and or the muffler to get more deep tone.

The other thing I noticed was more exhaust and a touch of burning smell, not sure why. I watched the entire installation and it was really just bolt on. Is this just an adjustment the new pipes need or do I need to worry about not passing smog and having a leak of some sort.

See the attached pics (if this site allow uploads).

Recommendations for muffler or axel back options? Can I get away with just a muffler swap or do I need to do the axel back too?

Thanks.

Mike

the burn smell is probably what they use... something like wd40 to make the oem bolts easier to take off from the oem exhaust...
