Alright, thanks all for the sway bar advice.

Now, back to the topic of the f-sport intake. I installed it this weekend on the is250. Very easy to install, the biggest pain is removing and re-using those plastic clips that hold the engine covers. The whole job took about 1 hour.
Upon first use, I liked it. It is very quiet at low RPM, but makes a nice, although small difference in the sound of the engine. I don't see any performance gain, but I was not expecting one, really.

You will notice the following:
1. Smoother acceleration.
2. More aggressive and lovely sound @ 3000 RPM and up.
3. Higher MPG (assuming you keep driving the same way) but you will open up a lot more now to hear the sound so lower mpg haha.

I have a question, so I got the intake installed back in March, love the sound of it.

About a week ago, I went in for an oil and filter routine maintenance change by my dealer and I noticed the lack of the growl above 3k rpms all of a sudden.... What could be the reason for this? Is it possible the dealer threw away the f-sport filter and gave me a stock one? is the sound solely generated from the extra hole from the air box? OR could extreme heat cause the loss of sound?

I wanted to ask before making a hassle of removing the plastic covers for further investigation

Thanks in advance.

They might have replaced the f sport filter with the cheap paper filter by accident. You may open the box and check. Or you might get so used to the sound that it kind of sound normal but the sound is actually there. Sometimes I only notice my IS250 has better sound after driving the IS350 without the F sport intake because i'm so used to the f sport intake sound.

The sound is mainly created by the intake box with the hole. The tube design and the high flow f sport filter would make less restriction for air can also contribute to more sound as well.

I love my f sport intake.. sounds awesome above 3000rpm.. as others have mentioned you won't notice a horsepower improvement but acceleration is definitely smoother.. when in Power mode accelerating to highway speed from 1st gear is incredible

Can't wait to get my F sport intake. My dealer charges $455 including install for it. Is it a big difference from Sewell?

Intakes and Exhausts are generally noise mods and eye candy for the engine.

With net of ~10HP gain, you are not going to feel difference. It's been mentioned many times in the performance sub-forum.

Import Tuner had a nice write with their dyno with FSPORT parts on IS250.

Intake gets a gain of 10 - 15 HP per 300 bucks.
Exhaust gets a gain of 2 - 5 HP per 1000 bucks.

So best bang for the buck is the intake which nets most power gain... But again... you won't feel it at all.

Shadowman, yeah you sum it up pretty much. However, the intake for our car most likely yields ~5 HP while some even reduce HP because of taking in the hot air.

F Sport intake is considered one of the good and popular choices with ~5HP gain, and nice sound. What I like more about it is the smoother acceleration and a little bit MPG gain due to the engine breathing easier.
