Default RSR Ran-Up Oil Additive

After getting my RSR Sport*I coilovers which I love, I did some more research on RSR products and found this engine oil additive that they sell. RSR Ran-Up !

It is not to replace the existing engine oil but just an additive. I bought a bottle and added to my car about 2 weeks ago. I must say I have noticed a increase in my MPG and the throttle response is much better. Some of my friends also bought the RSR ran-up and also say that they have noticed an increase in their MPG.

Driving the car, the car is more “rev-happy”, both in speed and quality/smoothness of throttle response. This is definitely a good buy for anyone looking to spend a minimal amount of money for enhance their ride.

Don't knock it till you try it!

I never thought it would be a difference but it's great so just give it a shot...it's in expensive

Glad you were happy with the results. I have always been very wise with how I spend my money on my car and was too very skeptical about the RSR ran up oil additive. But I do feel a difference and don't think its just in my head.

A quick google search actually yields a lot of dyno results, pretty much all of them positive. Looks like people are getting between 2-10 WHP from it.

I just ordered a bottle

" installed " the ran up the other day. Took a 100 mile round trip from DC to Baltimore. The car feels like it revs smoother. I can't say its faster or its my break in (1600 miles so far on my od) but it did feel more fluid overall in the rev range. As well downshifting too. Just my 2 cents. I'll be adding it again after my first oil change.

I did the same at my (self mandatory) 1,200 mile oil change. Honestly without instruments to measure RPM acceleration it's impossible to tell any difference, but it certainly did not seem to hurt anything. I feel like this product is along the same lines as a radiator water wetter - it may make areas of your drivetrain perofrm a little bit more efficiently, but in and of itself is not a difference maker.

That said, assuming my oil does not come out with something unexpected at 5,000 miles, I'll probably use it again and take a dyno at that time.

Do you just pour the Run-Up into your oil after its been changed? Do you need to leave some oil out during the change so the Ran-Up will not cause an overflow?

Someone that is running this stuff should send an oil sample into Blackstone labs to have it analyzed the next time you change your oil. They'll let you know exactly what it's properties are and if it's safe to use. It would be in your best interest since your engine warranty is toast if you have engine problems down the road and Toyota has the oil analyzed and holds you responsible for adding it. One thing to consider is that this stuff may be to slippery and your not completing the break in process completely. Rings and cylinder walls actually need friction to mate properly. Cylinders have cross hatching on the walls as part of the machining process to facilitate this mating. If Ran up does do what they claim I'd wait till at least the third or fourth oil change to add it.

The shop I ordered my RSR ran-up from told me to just add to my existing oil and no need to drain since this would not cause any overflow.

I have been running for a few months now and no issues.
