Default Fsport intake install question

When installing a new intake there is this white filter in stock box is that suppose to be removed? I don't see a purpose in it being there.

When you install the F-sport intake, it replaces your stock airbox, filter and air intake pipe.

Yes.

The Fsport intake should come with its own blue colored filter and box

Just to clarify the previous posts. It comes with its own lower intake box that replaces the bottom half of the Lexus filter enclosure with a custom intake (basically a side opening) that generates a throatier sound. The stock top portion is reused.

remove it. Its the OG paper filter. You would regularly change this every 30k miles. Now your new F-Sport air filter (the blue one) can be cleaned and reused for the life of the vehicle. You actually place it on the bottom half of the box. You can now clean it every 30k instead of buying a new one ($30.00). Theres a cleaning solution for like $26.00 for two bottles. Can do it yourself. Some members even do it with every oil change!

I don't think you guys understand what I am talking about. I know the actual filter is changed out. But on the upper part of box there is like a white little screen part that is attached to it. Doesn't look like that part is easily removed without breaking it off.

It is a charcoal filter used to absorb hydrocarbons. It is not removable (unless you break it). Normally it is not something you ever touch. Removing it won't really hurt anything, but it's not going to help anything either.

No point in touching it.
