I have a '98 GS300 and seriously want to add some power to the car. What do you guys believe is the best route for me to go with? I'm not looking for big hp either just looking to get in the range of 300-350 rwhp. Also I would like to keep the price range about 6k or so
After reading about 2jz swaps, for only wanting 300-350 wrhp, I would do the Turbo or SC. I was thinking of picking up a nice used 98' GS 400 and blowing some air through it, without the major cost of a 2jz swap
Just add a bolt-on turbo kit because you're only looking for the 300 RWHP range. Maybe you can get a chance to meet up with cong28 once he gets his SRT Stage 2 Turbo Kit finished up.
Yes, I agree with everyone here. Just build yourself a turbo kit. You can spec out the turbo to fit your needs and maybe even use a Garrett ballbearing unit instead of the cheap turbonetics turbos that most kits use. Greddy E-Manage and HKS F-Con V-S are both available for a piggy back ECU setup to keep it all tuned properly.
You know considering HKS was supposed to release the FCon V-S LAST year at SEMA, I'm not holding my breath for the Pro although it is one of the most advanced standalone ECU's in the world.
The S was in fact released to last sema, though only to the PRO Dealer network and in custom unit form only. For 6-7 months, limited pre-programmed units for the WRX and Supra have been available and offering only through HKS Pro Dealers. This SEMA, the more preprogrammed units are being release as will the use of them for up coming HKS Turbo kits.
Trust me on the V Pro, they will be available through HKS PRO Dealers soon enough =)
