Really interested in seeing this project go with someone who has the risk to throw money around This has been on my mind so much, im just not sure how much $$ this will run.
1. The SARD IS350 M/T kit has an ECU that might work in a North American car.
2. The IS250 transmission is more than capable of handling the power of the 2GR-FSE, but would likely need a better clutch setup. Is the F-Sport pressure plate enough to hold it? Probably.
.......
In short: people who say the IS250's transmission can't handle the 2GR-FSE are wrong. It can, and has in many other stock applications. My only concern really is the clutch.
Jeff
Jeff, you've just put into perspective everything I've wanted to know about the IS250/350 series. Not only could Lexus have bolted an existing transmission to the 350 but an aftermarket M/T ECU? There must be upgraded clutches available by now.

i think in theory if the 250 6spd can handle the 350 power/torque output, yeah the car might be more fun to some but it wont be faster at all. if anything i believe that would slow the car down because then the "driver mod" factor comes into play.
I m sure there was a thread before about this and there was also a magazine that was sawing that it can be done.Does anyone have any info about this because i believe that here in Europe that IS350 isn't an option this could be the best think to do to gain 100hp with a manual transmission. There is someone who has manage to install supra engine to an IS250.I m sure he spend a lot of money to do so but i m curious how can nobody in the USA market(and i m sure many of you wants to)has not tried to make the is350 manual.I m sure that it will not cost so much. The truth is that i really want someone else to do it first and let me know how it is done because i really want to do this!!
because 'Murica !! Where 9/10 people doesn't know how to drive a manual.
Jokes aside, a friend local here has been thinking of swapping a 350 engine into his 250 MT

I doubt it would be faster, still way more fun though, and having fun is more important to me that 0.3s or whatever it would be, so much more important.
I'm still waiting for a good 2GR-FSE engine to pop up for sale, I call around to various junkyards every now and again. One day they'll have one for a decent price.

I wish he do it so that I can do it to.Mine is a 2006 though and I don't have VDIM so as everybody say this is also a problem.Does your friend have VDIM?
That's what i asked xvector because it seems strange how it's working. He has a 2007 and I believe he didn't have VDIM either.Tell your friend to start the project
You can extensively track vdim components thru all the docs on TIS. I'd suggest getting a 2 day subscription if you're remotely interested in persuing a swap. Fwiw, in my reading it looks like a few modules (ecus) would need swapped in favor of 09+ Is250 vdim components or use the is350 ones.
It's worth noting the price of is250/350 parts have decreased significantly and are widely available on eBay. I would think a swap is feasible if you're willing to commit the time and money.
