Default AFE Air Intake Kit?

I was looking around for intakes, and ran into this, I haven't heard of it, and supposedly it boosts up to 50hp?

Sounds a bit fake, what do you guys think??

I'm getting an aFe myself next month. It will only get you about 2-3 HP. It's really loud though which is why I'm wanting it. aFe intakes on BMWs will get lots of added horses but not on the IS.

I hear good stuff about Joe Z intake all the time, but what about Takeda intake? Gives around 15hp+ gain proven on dyno as well....

Plus, I don't know where to order Joe Z's intake for a good deal to a CL member, as he does not have a website?

no intake on the 2IS will give more than 5hp/5tq. JoeZ and F-sport will yield the greatest increase in horsepower. I have a Takeda Intake, it still takes in hot air, and since takeda is made by aFe. the aFe should yield more power, but actually doesnt.

The only different from the JoeZ and F-sport is the lower box and comes with a CARB sticker that is required in California to pass emissions

Yeah, I've yet to see a reliable before/after dyno from any intake showing more than a 5 hp gain from anyone other than the person trying to sell the intake.

The Joe Z at least has independent dynos to back up its 5 hp gain, nearly all the others are manufacturer only dynos that nobody can replicate and are usually, obviously, fake (like they dyno a stock 350 at 240 hp or something crazy low, or do it in the wrong gear, or have an obvious shift-spike in the graph, etc...)

well afe does claim that the 50 addition hp depends on application..they arent specifically saying its a guaranteed, exact hp gain.

Let me be clearer-

They're lying.

You will never, ever, ever, under any circumstances, get the 50 hp or 100 tq they claim the gains range up to. Ever.

Every single mod available for the 2IS (excluding nitrous/supercharging), combined, will produce way less than a 50 hp gain.

From just a hot-air short ram intake like this you'll be lucky to get 5 hp. But personally I try not to buy from people who tell gross lies to me about their products. Maybe I'm weird.

My thoughts exactly, I find it very annoying that they have to lie in order to sell their product... I knew there was NO WAY that they could produce 50hp gain and 100lbs tq, thats just insane, and I'm pretty sure everyone would hop on that quick....

Looks like F-sport or Joe Z it is... what are your guys thought on InJen intakes?

I agree with all of you that there is no way an intake by itself can produce anymore than 5 hp. However, I think afe is trying to say that it depends on what you use it with.."depending on application." For example, using other bolt ons, turbos, headers, etc. That's just how I interpreted it.

That's like saying "This Type R sticker can add up to 50 hp if you use it with a 50-shot nitrous kit!"

I have the AFE stage 2 myself, it sounds great, but I don't notice any gain. I think the 50 hp gain is regarding to trucks and other cars..
