Basically what it does is lie to the ECU about how far you pushed the gas.

Seriously.

Just look at how it's wired. It goes in-line from the wire connected to the gas pedal.

it's literally just taking the signal that says "the gas is 10% pressed" and changing that into passing upstream the message "the gas is 30% pressed" (or whatever pattern it uses to increase it)

If that isn't lying to your ECU I dunno what is.

ECT-Power at least changes the behavior of the car in a way you normally can't (changing when it downshifts at part throttle, when it holds gear with no input, and when it changes gear with braking).

I'm sure it -feels- great... because your mind is thinking you're still driving like normal, but the car is acting like you're mashing the gas all the time.

But you'd get the same results if you just mashed the gas yourself. You can see that on the graph they post... it's just telling the ECU you pushed the gas ~75% of the way when it's only down ~50% for example.

I suppose it might take an extra 1/100th of a second to move your foot the extra inch or two distance on the pedal compared to this thing doing it electronicly if you really want to justify its cost.

Don't mean to bring this back from the dead, but i found it intersting in my search for power mods.

Basically what this device does exactly as Kurtz has said, is it transforms your regular driving into your 'foot stabbing throttle' all the time action.

Pedal Depressed/Stock Power allocation Blitz SP3 Mode Power Allocation
0% 0%
10% 30%
30% 50%
50% 75%
75% 100%
100% 100% (Can't create hp out of thin air)

Note: Scale may not be entirely accurate, but thats the general idea. Basically, your sensitivity of the gas pedal has decreased since theres not as much 'selections.'

Of course it changes what's reported to the ECU... I guess you guys missed the part where this is a "throttle controller."

I brought the same question up a while ago and got the same responce with that it just lies and all you have to do is press the gas harder. But there is a lag and it sucks. i seems that if the ecu is lied to and the car is more responsive that it would make it a little easier to handle and a better car to drive. by this i mean that if i want to pull out of a parking lot and want a little wheel spin then all i have to do is put the controller on 3 and push the gas a little and im gone vs haveing to find that sweat spot in my throttle range or throwing the peddle to the floor. i think that finding that spot would be harder without the controller because of the lag. its easyier to controle 2 inces of travel in your gas peddle vs 5 inces and like joe z said its going to lie faster than what i could ever push the gas pedle! i dident explain that all to well but hopefully you get what i mean. i know you dont get a real tune out of it or any thing but it seems to be worth the money if you get rid of that lag and just barly have to push the gas like joe z said. i would say that if all the people that complain about it just lyeing to the ecu drove a 350 that had a controller in it they would love it and want one!

Except the only place any "lag" could exist in any of your examples are either in your ankle or your imagination.

It's -exactly- as easy to learn to push the pedal precisely 2 inches as your example versus precisely 5 inches. and should take virtually identical amounts of time unless something is wrong with your ankle.

so how exactly does this 'throttle controller' make the TPS (Throttle position sensor, which works on a scale of 0-5v) react more quickly? You are still limited by electrons travelling through wires that get processed by the ecu.

Unless this throttle controller replaces all ecu wiring with fiber optics, which travels the speed of light, then sure, you can make it more responsive.

Me thinks the lag exists else where, don't be fooled by marketting.
