Default GS stalled while driving

I was cruising at 70 MPH in the rain when my 98 GS400 with 100K miles stalled out on me, I was hitting the gas, and it is like the engine didn't want to go.

Car has a quarter tank of gas.

After pulling to the side of the road, it would restart, but as soon as I hit the gas, it would shut off again. I had to get it towed, where a flat bed raised it up, and brought it home. Tried starting it again, and it started right up, and now drives, but the check engine light is on. The tow truck guy said maybe something got stuck in my fuel pump, and the car just needs to be filled with gas.

How often is a fuel pump changed, and moreover, is this a common problem with a fuel pump going bad, or is this symptomatic of some other problem?

I am scared to drive it, in case the fuel pump is temperamental, but the car seems like it can drive fine now...

Thanks

Default

diagnostics gave me a code p0715, so did water get into my turbine speed sensor on my transmission? maybe it just needs to be sealed?

Today's sunny update, check engine light gone, car running fine

Default I know it's been a while

I had the same kind of problem with my GS400 this weekend. What did you ever find out was the problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Default sensor got wet

it was the trans sensor, it had gotten wet in the heavy rains. To prevent it from happening again, my mechanic put some sealant around it. The sensor itslef is fine and the check engine light went away on its own.
