I'm not sure I'd want to use trial and error on my $10,000 engine...

There's no engine management possible on a US spec 2IS. The stock programming is conservative enough to run around 5 or so lbs of boost with the normal O2 feedback...and with a 12:1 compression ratio it's not going to be safe to run much more than that unless you're also adding alky/meth injection or something.

In the end you're going to spend 2-3 times more than you could've just traded in for an IS350 for, and end up with less power (assuming they don't blow your motor with too much boost)

There's a -reason- nobody makes a kit to do this

Best of luck to you! I'm not trying to rain on your parade but you might want to look into potential problems with the ECU reprogramming.

My car was new, I'd sure want my engine to be too.

The only used engines for a 2IS you're likely to find on ebay will be from a wrecked car...might be fine, might not, still won't be what came in it from the factory, so that'll ding your resale pretty badly.

And $4500 is roughly the 250->350 price difference for that matter...so turboing a 250 to make maybe 40-50 extra hp over stock, which is still gonna cost you more than that in parts and labor if you get lucky and do NOT blow the motor... still makes zero sense compared to gaining over 100 hp with a full factory warranty in a 350.

We got a used greddy turbo from a 2006 scion tc. We also brought a used spec ls intercooler system. I brought all of them for $ 2,000. From there on my shop will try to put those stuff together. We order a new ecu chip from tom's and reflash it. My shop guarantee that the turbo will work! lets see

Is your car a US vehicle, or a JDM vehicle?

because the TOMs ecu doesn't work on US cars.

Says so right on their website (though it does so in Japanese)

I have no doubt it's possible to make a turbo "work" on your car.

Work properly, safely, and producing enough boost to add more than maybe 40-50 horsepower? Not as likely.
