Default GS300 whp after light mods?

I came across one yesterday that was able to accelerate a lot harder then I expected. What type of whp numbers are you guys getting with intake, headers, full exhaust, and fuel management?

intake, header, exhaust, tuning is going to bring the GS3's whp level up to maybe 200-210whp. You would have to have a very slow car to have a lightly modded GS300 pull hard on you. Maybe it was boosted.

I'm pretty sure you meant 300-310 whp, they start out at 225 whp from the factory.

He could have had a ridiculously high stall torque converter 3400+ and could have had a more agressive rear 4.11 +. These 2 things AND all bolt-on mods (intake, exhaust, headers EMS) would make a GS300 move a little better than expected...especially off the line due to the high stall TC...

the high stall TC's dont do much for the 300 since the stall is already high...its not as noticable as in the 400 since your stall is so much lower than the 300

If that other GS was boosted then he can put train lengths on you. As is right now, I can distance myself from a Vette C5 Z06 nicely on the highway. The 2JZ is a potent engine with a turbo. Without turbos it's missing half the engines soul. The GS300 is a pig from the factory...just too freaking slow. Maybe 10 years ago when it first came out it was ok, but by todays standards it's not fast...if a Hyundai can pull on a Lexus then there's something wrong with that picture lol.

OK. You don't state in your original post that he "pulled on you." Were you racing him or was he just flooring it while you were driving normally?

Me too! The nice thing though, is that with a simple basic turbo or s/c, the
2JZ can easily make 300rwhp. With bolt ons and tune, I think the 2JZ can make up to 300hp.
