Default INJEN intake........modification????

I was wondering that if i took the INJEN intake and cut it to size to fit between the stock air box and the throttle body (if its still called that) would it work in terms of power and performance? I have had the INJEN intake in my car for a while and I took it off to have the engine knock TSIB done and i noticed that my car is faster with the stock intake. The only decrease in power i feel from the injen is from 2k to 3k where the INJEN made a little difference but overall the stock one is better for performance espeacially at higher rpms. What do you guys think?

all the short rams intakes, will rob you power. They are only for sound. If I were you, I would sold the injen, and then buy the JoeZ intake

Sell it opt for a joe Z. I was going to get a fujita but decided to go with Joez since there is proven gains with the JoeZ. I figured the stock intake would have the best performance.

The question isnt if i should get the joez or not. Im just asking if this would work becuase I see no diffrence between the joez pipe and if I cut the injen down to size and use it in the same way you would use the joez by just replaceing the pipe and leaving every thing else the same.

Im not asking if it would be cheaper, becuase if I sell the injen then im gona leave it stock. But my question is again, if I cut the Injen pipe to size will it have no effect, or the same effect as the joez.

The question isnt if I should by the joez or not, Im just woundering if its worth the risk to try it. I think it will have the same affect as the joez because i compared them and the pipe is about the same shape. But unless the joez has some unseen diffrence I think it will have the same affect or at worst none which is better then a lose.

i would asume it'd work. as long as the 2 pipes r bent at the same place/angle. the joe-z pipe, as far as i can tell is just a cleanly bent pipe so the one on hte injen should work much the same. just make sure their the same diameter so the pipe will fit on the stock box. how would u go about cutting it? if u dont mind me asking.

^^ I guess a hack saw would do the trick???

I'll give you an honest answer... It will probably work the same if its bent to the same degrees... and if it has a 3" ID and if the vacuum nipple is in the same general area...

But again, why hack up your Injen??

No one has done it yet, so you will be 1st for sure...

To the OP:

You might want to PM "Jeremy". I believe that he did some weird modification to his intake. I can't remember if he did what you're talking about and left the stock airbox, or if he set it up to allow an open-element air filter with the stock piping.

The Injen intake has the MAF sensor located in a strange spot where the pipe diameter changes, right? If so, I would expect that to be an issue. Honestly, it does sound like it would be better to just sell or trade it.

Yeah Gernby makes a good point...When putting back your stock airbox you are going to have to switch your MAF to it....Wont this leave your injen pipe with an open hole where the MAF was?

Jeesh. If that's the case, just throw the damn thing away, and go back to stock. There aren't enough gains to risk anything. This is just silly.
