Question Valve Body Upgrade

Did anyone do this upgrade to their GS’s? If yes, what is your feedback on it? Where did you get it done and how much time and money will it cost.

I'm getting mine installed tomorrow. I sent it out to SRT and the dealer is installing it with a couple other goodies.

I'll let you know,

Peter

Mo knows how to phisically mod the valve body? Ive not heard mention of this in the past....Mr. Johnson, please keep us up to speed on the results. I know that this is also offered by RMM, but I dont think anyone has enough faith in their product to purchase it.....D-shifts w/out using e-shift are way to slow on the stock GS.......

I believe RMM sends their valve body upgrade work to Level 10. I have a Level 10 transmission in my GS400 with the valve body upgrade. I cannot tell the difference between it and stock. Level 10 tells me if I install a S/C I'll notice a difference, but I don't know if I'm going to go there.

The valve body upgrade is supposed to make the shifts more firm, but like I said - I cannot tell the difference between my transmission and the old stock one.

Thanks klynchgs4. This was the answer I was looking for. Have you ever done the 1/4 mile after this upgrade?

See this thread for my very preliminary comments on the valve body upgrade.

Mr Johnson thanks for the link. I did not understand your opinion on the LSD. Did it make your car handle better around corner or did it provide too much traction, or did you slip out of the corner and loose the cars rear end?

Mark: It provided more traction than I was used to initially. I was used to when the rear would break free and start sliding so I could control it. Now the rear stayed planted for longer and then broke free a little more suddenly. It is a great traction improvement but I just need to re-learn.

Peter,

The TRD LSD is a multi-disk clutch type unit and requires some break-in to perform normal. When I just got mine, I had the same feeling as yours, but after the break-in, it's more predictable and control muuuch better now.

Mark,

My 1/4 mile times did not change as a result of the new transmission w/valve body upgrade. I only have times from my G-Tech meter which range from 13.7 to 13.9. The G-Tech is supposed to be accurate within .1 seconds, but who knows.

The other mods I have are a PI T/C (same one sold by SRT, RMM and Level 10) and the SRT intake.

Thanks klynchgs4 for your help. I guess I will try the LSD modification.
