Default Valve body upgrade

Hi Guys, I'm new to the site and have spent the past week reading all the questions/answers in the forum and am much better informed, thanks. In all those helpful remarks I don't think I saw one mention of a reworked transmission valve body. Saw plenty about SRT's soon to arrive trans ecu which may or may not do the same thing but here's my question. Has anybody installed this reworked valve body, either from Level Ten or RMM? I have Level Ten's torque converter and it has made quite a difference. What can I expect from the valve body? Thanks

I have a completely rebuilt tranny w/ the Raybestos goodies and the 3200 stall torque convertor complements of Pat Barrett of Level10. Basically with only a valve body upgrade the shifts will be harder and more dramatic... meaning your car will feel more like a sportscar in terms of automatic shifting. With the correction in pressure I assume the tranny will be able to hold in a 10% increase than stock rating.

I hope this helps.

Thumbs up 10% Increase

mgs - The Lexus tranny is roughly able to handle 500 flywheel horsepower without any modifications ( as per RMM & SRT's info ). Once U go beyond that power level with forced induction; nitrous or a combination of both ( yeah, NOW we're talking!! ), the tranny needs to be beefed up. The valve body mod with increased line pressure will add the 10% ( 50 HP ) power handling v300 mentioned as well as the T/C being stronger in terms of build integrity. The SRT tranny ECU ( when & if ever ) it's released will not only yield firmer/quicker shifts but will allow itself to be programmed for the correct shift points for those of us who have installed the 3.76 geared RMM LSD ( will keep us off the rev limiter ).

Thanks Gene. Will wait for SRT's tranny ecu and leave my valve body intact (didn't want my car down a week or more anyway). Looks like the 3.76 LSD is in my future now as well. This site is great, thanks for yours and everybody's help. mgs

Just had Level 10 rebuild my valve body to level 7. Level 10 being full RACE...

From 1/4 to 3/4 throttle I can feel the shifts are more firm. For some reason I thought I would be getting 2nd gear chirps out of the tires but that simply isn't the case.

One thing that is VERY apparent now is that I hit my rev limiter from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th on Wide Open Throttle...

It has a strange effect because during the second that it hits my rev limiter and my car sputters a few times it doesn't seem to want to shift into the next gear. My car will literally pause for 1 to 2 seconds while it tries to figure out WTF it should be doing. It's VERY irritating. Almost sounds like the tranny is slipping.

From the outside of my car (I had my buddy take off while I stood outside) on WOT when the car shifts it sounds like a manual transmission that is slipping like crazy while also the loud exhaust making a gurgle-burp-burp sounds while it's bouncing off the rev limiter...

I guess at this point all I can hope for is the SRT tranny ECU..

By the way… Does anyone know if it’s possible to raise our Rev Limit or even if we could would it by wise to do???

Reason I ask is because it seems like if I had at least another 500 rpms to work with then my tranny would actually shift on WOT and everything would be GREAT! Might even get a 2nd gear chirp
