i'm planning to order the tanabe(difficult to find in belgium) and i already have the k&n intake.The question is, isn't that combination going to be to loud?I dond't want to make more noise than speed.info tanabe in belgium costs 940euro(1250 usdollar)

 

I have that same combination and it is not loud. When you floor it of course it is going to get loud but its not a ricey loud. I think you will be very happy with that set up. As far as the price I think that is expensive for that exhaust. It doesn't cost $1,250 in the US. Try and see if you can get in inmported to belgium...Good luck

 

I took these videos of imaputz's car, which has K&N intake + tanabe exhaust. Of course nothing beats hearing it in person but hopefully these help a little. I was surprised how loud it got from outside the car, but my sense was it was more intake than exhaust, the tanabe exhaust is mostly a deeper sound, it's the intake that sounds loud but it does sound pretty good.

Sounds great, but when your not stomping it how loud is it?

 

I just returned home after a week away and found a notice that my K & N has arrived. I will not have a chnace to install until Tuesday and will report after that. It will also be paired with my Tanabe.

 

The great thing about these two is that they work together - the Tanabe provides a nice deep sound at low RPM's, and then softens the tone around 4,000 RPM. Conversely, the K&N doesn't make any noise until about 3,500 RPM, at which point it really comes alive. You can read my review here.

I just had a phone from my lexusdealer who found the tanabe for me at a good price.I think i'll go with that so we can install it in the garage together.
He just loves my car because i'm the only one who changed something the his car here in belgium.(k&n/eibach/work rezax universe 19") and i'm trying to find a company for chiptuning/powerbox

 

What is the horsepower gain with these two working with one another. I have the K&N intake and I am about to get the tanabe.

 

if you take a 8 to 10 hp for the k&n and a 6 to 8 for the tanabe you won't be so far away.I had a dyno for my k&n because it was the first here in europe and we came at a gain of 10 hp.will you feel it?? i'm not sure, but every extra hp counts.

 

Just got the K & N installed. Was here Monday when I got home but just broke up with my girlfriend this week, so kind of had a lot of other **** on my plate and was not able to put it on until this morning. Sounds great with the Tanabe, exactly like what I have heard from others on this site with the same set up, but better in real life. The Tanabe note is even better up to around 4000rpm, then the intake takes over from there. Performance has increased noticeable in the higher RPM range and does not seem to have affected lower end torque. This is the perfect combination for the IS in my opinion. With regular driving it really is not too noticeable but give it gas, and she just comes to life. I am off to Toronto for a week this afternoon and looking forward to the highway drive and some opportunities to let her rip. I do not think you would be disappointed in the setup. I will post some pics when I get a chance.

 

Thanks everyone for the info .I decided to have it a try and placed the order this week. Unfortunally i have to wait till mid august for the tanabe because it has to ship from japan. I really look forward to it.What i mis the most with k&n(intake) is when i shift down you hear nothing
