Default How many ponnies do we need????

I am going to stir the pot here. The IS350 has 306HP at the fly. That is plenty for me. How many HP do you need to get to work and back home????

Please guys this is a question, not a diss.

^^^
Pretty much...

Based on your logic, though, why do you even need 306? Why not just get the 250?

Why is this in the "Performance" forum?

Personally, I don't think the car needs much more torque, but I wish it could maintain that torque up to about 18K RPMs. Based on that logic, I think 1000 HP would be just about right. A CVT would be great too.

This is my weekend car as well. I drive a Ford Taurus company car. Sorry, that is what they gave me and they pay for the gas. I would like about 450. I think that is about the max that tranny could handle without blowing up. However, if I had a two seater, roadster I would go for the sky.

"Personally, I don't think the car needs much more torque"

I agree with that. More torque at lower RPM will feel like more power. Some German cars will put out almost max torque at 2K RPM.

100HP would be fine for my daily commute but I didn't need my IS, I wanted it. The 306HP engine is so much better.

500-600 would be an optimum range to have. My buddy with a supra reduced his hp with a smaller turbo and less power. When he was making over 650hp, he said it just wasn't very fun to drive on the street for various reasons and now that he is down to 550ish it's just right.
