Default 350 - 450whp buildup

Hey guys just want to know what I need to build up a 350- 400whp GS400. I need to know parts, what I need in detail that's it. I dont care about cost. I just need to know if it is possible without me getting a GS300 and dropping a 2JZGTE in it.

Thank You everyone

NA power...well it depends what you mean. If you're just talking about basic bolt-ons such as Intake, Headers, Exhaust. Then you're probably looking at around 250-270WHP at most. You can go with a exotic NA race build (custom higher flow intake manifold, independent throttle bodies, titanium valvetrain, stronger pistons that will allow you to rev a lot higher, and not to mention a custom engine management system to run it all)which is VERY VERY costly but can ultimately put down some pretty amazing numbers.

The cheapest way to get 350-400whp out of a GS4 is to boost it, but then again it's not cheap to do that either! Anything is possible, but it all comes down to your budget and what you're willing to spend. If you want a lotta power for cheap(a relative term here lol), consider turbocharging a GS300. If you don't plan to exceed 400-450rwhp then you can still use the stock motor. More than that, you will need to be looking at a 2JZ-GTE swap.

By the way, if you plan to boost the car...it's gonna cost a lot more than just upfront costs. You're also going to have to pay for stuff that breaks due to the higher power levels. As a general rule, the more power...the more stuff breaks.

Don't forget that you will also need to change the transmission in order to be able to handle that much power.

The 5spd auto can handle those power levels with a modified valve body, sprag upgrade, and tranny cooler. If you're even more power hungry then you will need to upgrade to something else.

Hey man,

Why don't you spend some time searching this topic - believe it or not you are not the first person to ask it. Then when you have questions post them here All of this stuff gets covered repeatedly.

In short - supercharger/turbo, 3.76 LSD, upgraded TC, tranny cooler, VB upgrade and you are at 375+.

You don't need stronger pistons to increase revs ! And you'll need cams for it to see any gain up top.

If cost is no object as he said, then building the V8 internally is the the way to go. From the bottom up :

Increase the stroke to 5.0

Get some custom Rods made. Have the Heads/Valve Train Ported and worked.

Get the cams custom reground to spin about 7k-7.5K.

Have Extrude Hone port the upper and lowewr intake maifiold and have the throttle body enlarged.

Alone with Intake, Headers/Exhaust and Piggy back you will have a even stronger motor and it will make 350 - 450 rwhp.

I good engine builder needs to do this motor.
