Default Regular car oil or synthetic oil?

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and I wanted to get some feedback/advise. I have a 2007 IS 350 with almost 10K miles on it. My next oil change is coming up soon so I wanted to know if I should put synthetic oil in my car. My friend has a 350Z and did this 2 years ago and he felt a difference in better performance. What do you guys think? Any specific brands of synthetic oil in particular? Any pros and cons for doing this? Thanks alot for your time and feedback.

This question is like asking what's the best religion.

Honest truth? If you don't plan to keep your car a very long time or plan to use extended drain intervals, then synthetics are a waste of money. You will not see a performance increase you can feel with the butt dyno. You might see a small increase in fuel economy, but even that is debatable since the current crop of conventional oils are pretty good.

If you plan to track the car or race it, then synthetics are a good way to hedge your bet against engine failure. If not, and especially if you are on a lease, I wouldn't bother with changing. Just have a decent conventional oil put in the car and change it at the prescribed intervals and you'll be money ahead.

Free maintenence for 2 years free through Lexus! OEM oil will work. Once I start doing my own, I will be using synthetic. You won't notice a change in performance though. That rumor is rubbish unless you have dyno sheets.
