Default Turbo Timer

Anybody here with a turbo timer? Any problems with arming the factory alarm while car is still idling?

I have the apex-i turbo timer but haven't gotten it installed just yet. I should have it on in the next couple weeks so I'll let you know what happens but if you find out something before than please post up.

Cool, i've always loved the apexi tt.

are you going to hard wire it or use a harness?

You might be able to use the HKS turbo timer harness for the 97-98 Supra TT
Harness code is TT-7

jtanyo mentioned back then that he used an HKS harness with his apexi.

I know that I can't arm the alarm on my RX7 when the turbo timer is running. You could test it by trying to arm the alarm with the key in and running. The turbo timer will just simulate having the key in the on position for an alotted time before powering off the car. You could even test to make sure the doors will lock with the key in. Just sit in the drivers seat and start pushing the buttons with it idling in park.

On my other vehicle it was not a problem to arm the alarm when the car was runnning, but I know some vehicles it is. I know this doesn't help you too much, but just letting you know about my experiences. Many aftermarket alarms have a feature that is setup for turbo timers so it can arm itself while still running.

neither harness produced by manufactuers will work. what you'll have to do is very simple and doesnt take that much time. basically on a factory installed alarm on the lexus you have four wires that are used to install the unit. there will be a first and secondary ignitions, constant 12 volt line, and a ground. id have to know what color the wires are and the duty of them to tell you where they go. on the ignition harness behind the lower part of the dash, you'll need to identify those lines. once you have them you can splice the apex system in and you're ready to go. on turbo timers you have a hot, ground, illumination, and possibly a ebrake theft deterrent line and a speed sensor line if you want to display lap time. they dont have to be used to use the turbo timer.

Did some searching and here's where jtanyo1 (has an aristo) said he used an HKS harness with his apexi tt
http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/for...howtopic=17894

also, some IS300 guys are also using the 97-98 Supra HKS turbo timer harness
Some are saying yes and some are saying no about arming the car so there's alot of mixed feedback.

Trbopooh, is yours hardwired or plug and play harness?

I'll order the hks harness next week with the apexi tt and see how it goes.

mine's hardwired. i heard that maybe a lexus tech can use their scanner to enable the use of a turbo timer and arm your factory alarm. it's unconfirmed though.

I have a different answer to your question. My opinion is that turbo timers are over rated. How many OEM turbocharged cars do you see that have a turbo timer? None. What I always did if I was driving hard and making a lot of heat, was just drive really easy for the last min or 2 of your drive and it worked just perfectly. The only time you really need to worry about letting the car idle is if you have been out driving really hard for a long period of time, then I would let it idle for a few minutes just to be safe. It saves money on the turbo timer.

i guess we're just too lazy to sit there and count down for a few minutes.
