I did not have the cooler because Jack from PI told me it not necessary. I beleive PI told me it there quality of putting the T/C together. IMO they should cover at least half of the cost to show that they have good faith in their product. Especially, when they told me that it's slim to rare that this kinda stuff happens. All in all that shows you that they don't give a damn about us consumers. When we pay that much for a product from a well-known company, we expect some quality and responsiblity from the manufacturer. If they at least cover half I would think about putting it in again. I know one thing in the business world that is "take care of your customers" without them you would not be in business.

I'm just guessing here because I don't know how you spoke with them, but maybe if you had used a little finesse they would've helped out on the trans a little.

I don't think anybody out there in my situation could have been more calm and professional then me in explaining the problem to PI. I just know they don't really care about any sequential damage caused by their T/C.

I strongly suggest anybody thinking about buying PI T/C ask them: How much confidence do they have in their product quality and reliability? Come on a $760 T/C causing an expensive $3400 Transmission work within 4 weeks of driving. This kind of stuff could happen again and to anybody.

I myself have read the Lexus forums about PI T/C and did not find any problem that's why I bought it for my car. But after encountering this problem I have read about a similar problem in a mustang form and at least the T/C manufacturer fork out half the cost of the repair.

If using the phone is going nowhere, grab the keyboard and write a letter (not an email) and send it certified USPS.

Default PI TC - Please Read

Hey Guys,

Has anyone else had any trouble with the PI Torque Converter? I am considering this mod in the next few weeks and want input from those that have it. I have a large tranny cooler that I already installed on the car. The tranny is in great shape with 128k miles.

Let me hear back from you guys with the PI Torque Converter and what your thoughts are and if everything is still good with your tranny.

Many Thanks!

Theo

I have had my PI Torque converter for about 2 years now and I have never had any problems with it. If your situation happened to me, I would be very upset, especially only having it in for 4 weeks, and causing all of the subsequent damage. I really feel for you man, hope you can get it fixed cheaper than that cause thats alot of money.

I have had a PI TC in my GS since early 2000, over 45,000 miles on it with the first 10K miles without a tranny cooler before I learned more. No transmission issues and this post is the only one I recall having any significant problem other than CEL (check engine light) issues, mainly on GS430s.

I did have a CEL pop on with my first TC, but I dont believe the person I sold it to has any issues at all (edit - he posted above already, lol). My new one (I bought with a different stall speed and turbo stator pump because I added FI to my GS) has no issues.

I still don't have a tranny cooler in mine, even though I bought it at the same time as the TC......

Yes, indeed, I plan to do it this year when I get the other "engine" mod done.
