Question What is the gain from a TC

I have worked in and around cars for quite a few years. But, I hav never realy gotten into MODs, till now. I have a 99 GS 3. I can understand the reason for intakes, exhausts, and even LSDs. But what gain do you get from changing the torque converter?

Can any one shed some light on this one?

Someone correct me if I am wrong but what you would get would be a higher stall Torque Converter so you can enter into the GS's power band quicker. Please don't quote me on this though.

No real point in adding a different TC to the GS3.

awww c'mon guys, at least tell the guy WHY he doesn't want a convertor for the GS3!!! Don't leave people in the dark.

The GS3 already has a decently high-stall in it's stock torque convertor. This is unlike the GS4 which has a stall rating of about 1800rpm. The guys, like myself, that get a torque converter for the GS4 end up with something more like 2800-3000 by buying the Precision Industries TC.

The GS3 should already be providing a stall of around 2600-2800 if I remember older posts correctly. So, buying a TC with 2800-3000 stall will not be worth the money at all. Going higher than that will kill your around town driving and your mileage.

This is the best explanation of a torque converter I've ever come across on the 'net.

Anyone with a GS400-430 have a TC in theirs? Id like some feedback porfavor. I have a a 99 GS4 and am getting an intake and possibly headers. Already have borla ex. Would a TC be a good choice after these two? LSD? Want to be quick off the line.
