No you were given the wrong info. Lets just say I had to go back and undo a lot of what they did, including reconnecting my boost controller. They decided on their own without my permission to disconnect mine and run a manual boost rig with a hose. They stained my hood, tried to buff it out(made it worst),blew one of my tires which I still haven't been reinbursed for( I had to buy my own) and my car idled like crap all the time. That is just a few things to mention, I had to cut my losses and get my car out of there. They talk a lot of talk but don't produce crap. I came to find out later that I wasn't the exception after speaking to former customers of theirs and a guy who had his car in the same time as me, he was going through the same stuff as me, actually worse. I don't know if MTR is referring to Manic but I called and called and called there. Never got a reply, an answered phone call, nothing. gave up after about a month of calling every few days. Idk...to me that tells you something about a shop right there. If you can't get ahold of them when you are trying to bring them buisness I can only imagine what it would be like once they have your money.

 

Yes, MTR is Manic Tech Racing... not picking up the phone is tyipical but try this for your taste buds, finally get a call back to pick up my car after leaving messages from Mon and finally returned my call Thurs. I'm told I can pick up my car that Saturday morning. I drive down and they are closed and never opened that day. !!! They won't pick up their cell phones, so I go over to the polisher next store down who knows them, he does me a favor and calls from his phone and amazingly they somehow heard his call and picked up after 2 rings!!!!(same number I was calling) Mind you i called like 20 times cuz i'm outside their shop and drove down 45 min to pick up my car and they are closed..Long story short My car was parked outside the owners front yard,of his HOUSE, with a blown tire. My rim on the floor. I had to come back down the next day with my spare so I could take the car home. They promised to get me a replacement tire so they kept that wheel promising to have a new tire mounted for me topick up. 2 WEEKS later after calling and getting no calls back or getting a "I hope to see your tire this week" line I went and ordered my own tire from the tirerack. I called so I could pick up my wheel and after 3 days get an answer and got this amazing line, "I'm having a hard time finding that tire anywhere because of its size" I quickly answered that I had already ordered the tire from "The Tirerack" and asked "have you ever heard of them?" his silence was all I needed. It literally took me another week just to get my wheel back cuz Rudy kept telling me that Manic had it at hos house. So finally they tell me to come get it the following Sat morning. I asked if they were sure they would have it there and be open and was assured "YES" , So I drive down another 45 min to their shop and what do I see? CLOSED!!! but wait its gets better. Their is another Customer like me who was told to come down Sat morning. Long story short after getting that very friendly polisher to make a call for me again and passing me the phone, again they didn't pick up for me but picked up for the polisher, I was told they would be there in 15 min and had my wheel in the back of his truck. Over and hour later they finally showed. I grabbed my wheel and like the saying goes "I ran like a bat out of hell" and never looked back, cut my losses.

Yes, I had to get the car back to Grip Industries to undo the mess MTR did....Its been a hectic couple months. All I wanted was a tune.

 

Wow, that sucks big time. I assume you have reported them to the BBB. So I guess the owner was out joyriding in your car from the sounds of it. I hope he didnt hit a pothole or something to cause the blown tire...have you had the rim checked out?


You need to make a thread about this so people will know to NEVER EVER do buisness with them.

 

It's tough to find a good mechanic/engine builder in South Florida, in my opinion. I give all my work to Mazworx in Orlando and some stuff to a former Toyomoto mechanic here in Miami.

 

Who is the F-con tuner from Ga. that was suppose to come down to Fla. to tune the car? I had heard good praises for Gripp motors.

Just an update since it's been awhile. Here's some pics of what I got in the mail. The rest should be here in a few days. I don't want to get into an argument about shops. I'm just posting about the car. Bluelex, I'm sorry that you had a bad experience but I haven't had any problems with them. My car is running good right now. There is a few issues because I am still using a piggy-back management system and 850cc injectors. If anyone wants to do a similiar swap, you must use a standalone system and don't waste your time or money on anything else. I am going with the F-Con pro v . I have not heard one bad thing about it, and everyone in Japan uses it. It is amazing. It is a little pricey but well worth it. Mikal, the guy tuning is from Forged Performance. They seem like great people to do business with. They use this system and swear by it. Right now the car is running 19lbs of boost on pump gas and pulls very hard. I raced a cobra on a roll and beat him. I want to finish the engine and then I can spend some attention on the outside. Bodykit, new rims and paint. I will post when the unit is in. peace.

Car is running flawless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No joke, the f-con is the ******!!! The owner of Forged Performance came down and tuned the car. All previous issues are gone. I didn't even put in the knock amp. Car starts up perfect and I'm running #8 plugs. Even when the weather was 38 degrees, no issues. Car pulls very hard and I'm hitting 24 lbs of boost @ full throttle. I need to change the spring in the wastegate because that's too much on pump gas. My AEM boost controller sucks. My tranny won't last much longer if I keep running it hard. All in all, I am very satisfied. 424 hp to the wheels is plenty for the streets! Again, manic tech racing did everything and was very generous with there dyno. Good things come to those who wait..... I have to say though, my life has changed a lot and I have two kids know. I work a lot and can't be dumping tons of money in my car anymore. The car is pretty much done. All you would need down the road is a tranny. Mine is still fine but who knows how long it will last. I might be selling the car in the next month so I can get another truck. I need a truck for my business. It sucks but that's life. I'll build another car again. I was under the impression that the VVTi Aristo Auto was a 5spd.....

 

all 2JZ-GTE automatics are 4-speed, Supras and Aristos alike.
