I have heard that because of the direct injection system, compression can be much higher and that the compression on the car is actually low compared to what it can handle. If this is true... I will definitely go turbo. Unless Lexus offers a 350 with awd...
this is true, look at the vw/audi 2.0 turbo fsi motor. its running 10.3to1 compression. direct injection creates lower combustion temps reducing the risk of detonation so i say turbo it

10.3:1 isn't high at all. It wouldn't even require premium if it wasn't using a turbo.
No turbo, I would consider supercharging if it can be done safely. I did it to my 4Runner, if you buy TRD and have it installed by Toyota, it stays under warranty as long as your drivetrain. If you do it yourself, or elsewhere, it is only covered for 1 year.

despite the comp ratio IS can probably handle about 4-5 psi, they already force inductioned the new Z06 and its running high comp ratio also, although lower boost numbers of course vs a car witth lower comp ratio
Well it all depends if its a bolt on install most prob. if it is. But then again if we had to drop off some compression by putting on a larger head gaskets I prob. would still do.
I have heard the same. To high of compression to run charger on a stock engine with any hope of it lasting. But im sure with some engine mods a supercharger will do fine. I would say this car is made for supercharger not a turbo tho as they are autos. The stick 250s can probley go turbo, but if i see any one rice out the 250 im going to be pissed! Should have bought the 350 dumbass. 100 HP more on and if you turbo a 250 your going to be back at the HP of a 350.
"If you had to get AWD because of the weather were you live this dont apply to you"
thats a very negative comment.. if i understand this correctly, why are you calling people dumbasses towards those who wish to turbo their car? Turbos push out more than 100whp. And how is forced induction rice?

wanna know something funny, some the fastest supras on the 1/4 mile are guess what...autos

I think the post was to the effect of "why bother working up a 250, should have just gotten the 350" if you wanted performance.... at least that's my interpretation.
I personally think it would be great to see a highly modified 250 turning awesome numbers with a MT and AWD.

Yes the first part was correct. Turbos and chargers are great no problem there. Problem was buying a 250 and putting few thousand dollors into boosting when you could have started with the same car with a 100hp more for the same price. Now all wheel drive i said thats an exception. Some people need or should have AWD where they live i completely understand that no problem there. 350 dont come with AWD and i understand. I would mind seeing it modded. As far as seeing a 250AWD turbo moded. I wouldnt mind seeing that too. What about a 250 transmission back with a 350 engine or somthing along those lines. Im sure it will happen some were down the road.
