Default SRT Intake or exhaust first?

I am debating whether to get the Apexi WS exhaust or Borla exhaust first ....or the SRT Intake first.....What do you guys think?

Which is more restrictive? Stock air box or stock exhaust?

Also... I have heard that the Check Engine light comes on sometimes after the SRT install? Is this normal or poor installation?

I would say go for the exhaust first. Afterall you can not only see it but you can hear it to

i would do the exhaust first too not that it's more restrictive, to me that's just some very minor addon. but i like how they sound more than the intake

Performance wise, you have minimal gain with either. But sound wise, exhaust is the way to go.

for power gain i'd say go with the SRT intake.... for what others see and hear i'd go for exhaust.. but keep in mind that the SRT intake is pretty damn loud too lol and whistles at girls for you haha

Default which exhaust...

ok....so the majority of the members are saying go with the exhaust first.... Since I have not seen either of the exhaust systems in person....I am kind of stuck on which one to get? Borla or Apexi... I have the Apexi GT-Spec on my Supra and I like it ... good quality and no rusting... but I do want to trade it for the HKS Ti (4" internal diameter).....but anyway back on subject.....The Borla is more stock looking and has a super warranty...

So what are pros and cons?

ie... sound, ground clearence, apperance...

Let me know Borla or Apexi??

Keep in mind that there are multiple components in the exhaust system starting with the manifolds/headers... see the header thread for more (much) info.

After the manifolds you have the catalysts which on the GS400 are very good and not worth messing with. After that you have the Y pipe, the mid pipe with dual resonators and the dual tailpipe mufflers.

Most exhaust "systems" are nothing more than tailpipe mufflers with tips. Most are straight through design. A good stainless muffler will outlast your ownership of the car. You can save a considerable amount of money just replacing the mufflers. BTW, see my last post in the header thread about muffler availability.

borla is only muffler back, so it's quieter. the apexi is cat back with no resonator so it's quite a bit louder. i have the apexi and i love it, so i might be biased

rominl,

I searched for the apexi for the GS400 and found no pictures only verbiage saying that it was cat back. BUT, I did find where the SAME part number works on both the GS300 and 400. That is not possible on a true cat back system. Now, from the center resonator outlet flange back the GS300 and 400 are duals with resonators. I believe this is what is being CLAIMED as cat back when in reality it is only resonator back. There are 3 resonators, the single center and the duals. It looks like the apexi includes a rear Y pipe and duals to the mufflers. A true cat back would include from the catalysts which would require the front Y pipe assembly. Take a look at the diagrams I posted in the Header thread and tell me what came with your system.
