Hey Al, I know there are a couple of threads out there with this info, let me search for you.

WIth the 3.76 Torsen type you do not need the friction modifier type stuff like I have in my TRD LSD.

I prefer Redline fluid.

Also - can you do me a favor please and trim down the text lines in your siggie? Max is 8 lines including blanks (you're at 15) Thanks

Here are a couple I found searching for LSD fluid

I just use regular type oil. Been using the car for the last few week, seem ok.

Does Torsen Type need special oil?

And how to to tell which type of limited slip I have?

By regular oil do you mean synthetic? When I got my rmm 3.76lsd, the toyota sheet that came with it specifically states the use of Synthetic Gear Oil. If your not using a synthetic, I would recommend
switching to it cause that's what toyota calls for. The lsd is an expensive part and you don't want to skimp on the oil.

After reading all the LSD fluid comments/ recomendations, I have decided to go with the Red Line Synthetic 75W90.

Thanks

I've used Mobil 1 for many years in the engine and for gear lube. Recently switched to Royal Purple for both engine oil and rear diff lube. Not that I was unhappy with Mobil 1, just wanted to try something different. I think any top quality synthetic would do the job.
