I will be sure to take your advice on the oil change thanks.
Morris I read your if you had to do over again post. I went by the shop that is doing your work some months ago and they seem to be some good guys but... i was not real impressed with their knowledge at all.I had a project to talk to them about and frankly they said a lot of wrong things. The guy with the Supra there did not even seem to know about his own Supra type car very well.
I hope this turns out for you because by now I would have been wanting my money back ASAP. I have but so much patience for mess ups. Theres another shop I have been dealing with and this guy is a Turbo Master Engine builder. If you need another shop PM me. Wish you well and good luck !

Well dont put too much stock in that other post, they are just the late night musings of a very tired and frustrated middle aged man. Even if I wanted to get out now, I am in too deep with this car from a financial perspective.

The theory that the shop has is that the alternator died and then the battery died and so the electric fans didnt turn and the car overheated. I am told that both heads and the block surface are warped and need to be remachined again to correct it. They believe that the warped surfaces caused the subsequent overheating.

As for the shops knowledge, there really is only one guy there that knows toyota and Lexus motors inside out, so if that was what you were talking to them about you would have wanted to talk directly to him, his name is Sam.

Not sure who you talked to there but they done a second GS with the same single turbo setup (jaimecbr900 on here) and his car seems to be running great.

One factor with Morris' car might be the mileage (over 200K) - plus some bad luck of course.

Hopefully his car will be fine soon.

Yea I think a lot of people are confused about where the turbo project started and where the engine rebuild started.

The Turbo kit was great it went in and worked with out issue. The engine then messed up some rings and so I did an engine rebuild with forged pistos. This is where the engine problems started.

Well I am planning on stopping at 500 to the wheels. I couldnt take breaking anything else on it.
I figure maybe I'll use two settings one at 400 and high boost at 600 or maybe 500 and 600, I'm not sure yet, we'll see when it comes back to me.

And thanks for the well wishes.

Yea I blew the tranny earlier this year, actually it was about the same time last year now that I think of it. We sent it our for a race build. I'm not really thrilled with how it came back but it works. By not thrilled I mean that it doesnt shift as hard as I expected it to. It almost feels stock.

Well I have purposefully been quiet on this, it seems everytime I say something good I wind up with a new problem. I was going to update this thread yesterday but thngs didnt work out. I was supposed to have the car dynoed yesterday but the dyno shop called at the last minute and told us they were closed, so I need to reschedule. I have been driving the car for about a month now I think, in that time I have put on two thousand miles. In that time we really wrang it out and found a few little problems that requried some fine tuning and minor problem solving.

Right now I am only getting about 11mpg by my best estimate but part of that is because I cant seem to stay off the boost.

Still have a few quirks that we are working on, my crank case pressure is kind of high and the EGR valve cant handle it and I am leaking some oil out of it, so we are going to tap the valve covers and run large bore lines to the catch can. The cars ECU may be learing how to compensate for what the SAFC is doing, so we are looking at possibly installing a MAP ECU if needed. Oh and the drivers side AC vents blow cold air for some reason. when the heat is on But I figure after the road I've traveled if those are the major issues then Hey I can live with them.

The car drives very nicely and is strong as hell, the car accelerates amazingly fast. I am running with a 6psi spring and I have my Electronic boost controller set at 10 psi on the low setting If i punch it it will jump up to 14 and come right back down to 10. I will probably wind up setting the high at 14psi. The car has so much torque that when the outside temp is 45 degrees or less I can spin the tires at will while traveling on the highway at 60mph just by punching it I guess 305s are in order for the next set of tires. Getting into boost while cornering isnt even an option, the car will instantly set off the VSC, mind you I am running 285's in the back. Even under warm conditions, the car will kick out and VSC will kick in while cornering hard.

But bottom line is I am having a blast, the last year of pain and heartache hopefully is behnid me for good.
