Yea your right tubopimp, I guess to me the layperson, if it doenst shift right it doesnt shift right. But your correct in saying that he was unhappy with the shifting. I guess in my book for the amoutn of money one of these things cost I was expectging it to shift like a swiss watch. Okay maybe a swiss watch on steroids.
I dont know what else you judge a transmision build by except for longevity and shifting. Is there other criteria to look at ?
I also recently came across those tranny ECU's and am now considering one of them myself, do those of you that have them think they are worth the money. What additional benefit / effect will it have on a "built" tranny.

one of my favorite reasons for having the auto tranny controller from Powertraincontrolsolutions was the ability to stay in the gear i shifted into. e-shift is only a one way shifter. (i.e. leaving it in 5th and stopping, automatically downshifts you to 1st).
when there's snow i like starting out in second.
i programmed the tranny controller to shift very aggressively matched to engine powerband when ECT/PWR was selected, and more gas economical when in normal mode.
(note, this was in my IS300, and in addition to the valve body upgrade and sprag install.)
the IS i had was a juiced swiss watch - when it cameto shifting! ;-)
