Default Another ? To Supercharged GS Owners..

Anyone running a smaller pulley than the 3.12 that comes with the kit. Spoke with someone at Rod Millen today on the phone and he was saying that they machine their pulleys by order and the next one down in size to increase boost is a 2.89? I know it was 2.8 something. Anyhow, just curious if any of you guys are using the same size pulley or smaller...Thanks

Alfredo, can't help you with your question, but I'm dying to see your car!

You coming to the Mahdavi meet this weekend or the huge Dave & Buster's one in 2 weeks?

What type of boost are they expecting from the 2.8?

agflex - i just had the 2.87 pulley installed (next size down from the 3.12) - concurrently with that pulley change i went up to the 370cc injectors and the high-flow fuel pump. i'm less than pleased at this point. the car shifts like absolute crap all over the place - before the change i would only hit the limiter briefly on the 2nd to 3rd shift (and only at wot). now my tranny is all over the place, not just at wot (plus check engine lite comes on all the time - i have an obd ii reader which shows the problem is rich condition). i'm chalking this up to the shop with which i had the work done not knowing how to tune the car. i have an appointment thursday to go down to xs-engineering - they have always tuned my car and i've had no complaints with them. i have not seen a significant boost jump with this pulley - maybe .5 to 1 psi. i'll let you know once i've taken it to xs. there are times when i wish i was on the east coast so i could run to srt, but i'd never give up so cal weather!

Thats interesting about the rich condition, my shop told me that the 370cc injectors were too big and that my SAFCII would not be able to lean it out enough. Have you gotten some sort of computer upgrade to go with the larger injectors?

Default smaller pulley...

Kenny- damn that sucks man, sorry to hear you're having those problems. My question is, do you think larger fuel injectors is a necessity after installing the smaller pulley? The guy I spoke with at Rod millen said that as long as I had some sort of fuel management system I would be fine, I told him that I have the SAFCII, and he said I would be fine.

i went with the larger injectors because after i had the 3.12 pulley installed and tuned by xs, they told me i was getting a little too lean on the upper rpms and if i ever changed to a smaller pulley, i'd need more fuel. (i have had all pulleys, 3.60, 3.33, 3.12 and now 2.87). i think i'm going to send my valve body to srt and see if that will take care of my shifting issues. the guy who was doing the tuning most recently told me that i should run a return fuel line. i just discussed that with mo at srt who told me it was not necessary and that would most likely make the rich condition much worse. anyway, my appt at xs is this thursday - i'll be there from noon until ????

I'm sure once you get it tuned it will run better. Hang in there.

well xs had my car thursday and friday - and after $1,100 it's finally running great! the first dyno (when the car was cold) put out 401 to the rear wheels - after it warmed up it dropped to 380. they told me the tranny was slipping - i did notice this initially when i picked up the car, but after driving it for about 30 minutes, it did not happen any more. i'm taking the car to my tranny guy next week for the lsd install and will have him check the tranny.

anyway, the guy who initally installed my injectors/fuel pump and pulley, evidently did not know wft he was doing...xs told me the injectors were not sealed properly and the belt (connected to the pulley) was loose. so before i brought the car to xs, i was only hitting a max boost of 6 psi - i now am hitting 8 psi. car feels much better - now my only problem is this ******* vis carbon fiber hood that does not fit properly - looks good straight on, but on the right side there is approx. a 3/4" gap - i cannot find any evidence that the hood is hitting anything (either the s/c or the strut bar) - i'll deal with that next week.

If going by the instructions given by RMM , then yes, the injectors will be installed improperly. I ran into the same issue myself on my initial install. 380 rwhp is a good figure. Too bad it cost you 1100.00 to get there. Glad to hear she is running good now.

i guess running good is subjective and since the car was running like crap before, my standards were lowered. anyway, i don't bounce on the 1-2 shift, but there is a brief hit on the 2-3 shift (just like before)
