Default New rear split pipe with valved mufflers, lost all sound

So I recently had my rear split pipe done as well as installed a set of mufflers with valves. I previously had a simple muffler delete with a 'straight pipe' and I loved the sound but wanted the mufflers so I could open and close the valves.
Problem is now I lost pretty much all the exhaust sound, it sounds like a 1.4 engine now, all I can hear is the engine whine and clicking, even with the valves open.
Could it be the fault of the new exhaust? I can see that after the resonator they made a pretty tight S bend to make the pipes split exactly in the middle. I know what they tried to do but all of the aftermarket exhausts I see, especially for the IS250, just have one side be longer than the other instead of trying to split the pipe in the middle of the car.
What do you guys think? Should I go back to the exhaust shop and complain..? I do have an exhaust leak around the resonator so they might try and say it's because of that, but I had it before installing this and I still had a nice sound..
