Default DIY Exhaust Build

For such a quiet and smooth engine they sure sound like crap with the exhaust removed. Fab is done and will be installed tomorrow. Will post a video

Well I ran a straight through with x pipe just to see what it sounded like. Man it sounds ugly like that. I have no idea why people like the sound. Installed 2 mufflers. Will post a video tomorrow. Sounds really good now.

with everything on a car, sound is subjective. not really sure what people like an open pipe (catless) sound of the 1UZ but it does sound good with proper mufflers.
these motors have the same firing order as a ford mustang v8 so it can sound similar if the piping and mufflers are done a certain way.
an overhead quad cam V8 has a unique sound no matter what exhaust configuration you run!

what size piping did you go with?

WTF. My original post had pictures and the pipe size...I posted the second post from my phone...looks like i erased or edited the original accidentally....

I bought 2 high flow cats, to 2.5 inch. Xpipe to 2.5 duals to 2 mufflers. I brought two high flow mufflers but it was way too loud. So I just put the stock second to last ones back on until my replacement pair arrive.

Yeah, I saw those pictures and wondered where they went. I like the sound of your setup, I'm interested to hear some audio!

Do as I say not as I do. This felt sketchy all day long. Rear muffler deleted and replaced with 2 inch pipe on both both sides. This mod makes . Big difference in the character of the exhaust sound.
Center res removed and replace with a 2.5 inch xpipe.
Hi flow racing cat. 200 cell.

I used the old flanges. Do not do this as they will not be straight and tend to warp after welding. I had to use some exhaust putty on them at the end. I will replace them for the turbo install.
My welder started to die on me here and i had no gas so the weld quality became poor. I am impatient and just kept going.
