Default Gs300 pumpkin swap into my sc300?

Okay I need to know ASAP. Now I did use the almighty search button and found similar threads and checked supra forms but they're not hitting on the head for me. I have a 92 5 speed sc300. A guy has a pumpkin that came out of 98 2jzgte swap , 3.92 ratio. With a gear type kaaz lsd and its a gs300 pumkin. I know my gear ratio is a 4.08 if I'm not mistaken. Will it just drop right in and ill be on my way drifting corners?!?

Well... yes and no.

You are correct in that, if you have a factory 5-speed car that hasn't been changed, you'll have a 4.083:1 open diff back there.

Also, the GS300 pumpkin should bolt in. You may have to swap your companion flange from your stock SC differential. Follow the factory manual procedure for torque specs for this and don't deviate. You can't use a big Craftsman torque wrench for that. You need a torque wrench with a dial indicator for very small increments of torque. I believe you need a 35mm deep socket for that swap.

It should bolt in other than that, but you won't be drifting around much on a 3.92 ratio and no boost. It's just not enough gear unless you've got a GTE or NA-T engine.

4.083 will do okay and 4.272 will do better.

3.92 is a bit too tame for having no boost but if you are planning ahead and want it with the intention of going turbo then it's probably a good choice.

You can also take your stock 4.083 and the GS 3.92 Kaaz LSD diff to a shop and have them swap the differentials so that your 4.083 pumpkin will now have the Kaaz LSD. FYI, 4.083 is also the factory Soarer 5-speed manual ratio.

Wow man thanx uve been alot of help. I did some more research and everything u said adds up and makes sence!

I have a 1jz gte now and I looooove torque . So should I stick with stock 4.08 and throw an lsd in it?

What is a good, 2 way lsd that doesn't break the bank that's made for aggresive transitiong. Drifting?

this should answer your question above. given by the advice he has said i would take the kaaz 2 way and throw it into yours with the 4.08 ratio.

You have a 1jz-gte, you'll be fine running the 3.92 w/ the lsd the guy is selling. It's honestly going to be more work to go out and find another LSD put it into your carrier just to have a 4.08 ratio. If you're dead set on getting another LSD, I'd go for the TRD LSD. If you get the TRD you'll have to get the version made for the auto TT supra diff.

Well, I think if your not much above BPU on your 1JZ you'd do better with the 4.083 ratio and swapping in either that Kaaz you have or a TRD 2-way diff. 3.92 will do well too since you have it but personally I'd go with the 4.083 unless you had a 2JZGTE.

Worth it to swap diffs? I think so. I took a 4.769 TT Auto Torsen and swapped the gears for 4.272's since I'm NA. Made a world of difference in my application and I don't mind the revs. Later with a turbo I plan to swap back to my stock 4.083. I've considered a 3.92 for a 2JZGTE swap but I'm not sure yet. I'm of the mind that you want 5-speed/Soarer gearing with a 1JZ at least.

Here's a handy general guide on the ratios for MKIV Supras/Scs/GSs to see what cars have what ratios in case you're still looking for some other ratio.
