Default Starting the getrag swap into the 98 gs300. diff questions....

I just recently sold my SC300 that I converted from auto to 6 speed and now plan on doing the same to my GS300. I know whats involved when swapping in the 6 speed, so I have that part covered. Now, I'm looking into rear diff options.

When I converted my SC with the getrag, I went with the supra 6 speed rear end as well. Since the 6 speed rear diff was 3.13, it matched up perfectly and the auto tt 3.26 wouldn't have worked out for what I was doing.

After doing some research, I've noticed that the GS400's came with a 3.26? Is this true? And my GS300 comes with a 3.92? Can I bolt up the Gs400's 3.26 straight into my GS300 without changing axles? Since the 6 speed supra one requires a drive side axle.

What about LSD options? Can I drop in a auto supras LSD straight into the GS400 pumpkin?

Thanks,

Peter

Peter,

I too am doing a manual swap on my gs300. How are you going to work out the clutch pedal situation? the gs300 had no provision for a clutch pedal.

Yes, actually the whole auto supra tt lsd pumpkin with the 3.76 gears will bolt right in.

I believe there is anouther member on here that has completed or alsmost completed a 6-speed swap. I tried searching for the tread and couldn't find it. Maybe someone else can rember.

Since there is no provisions for the clutch master and pedal, you have to use your imagination . I will definatly take pictures and do a write up.

It was cake with my SC300 6 speed swap since there was already a template where you cut.

I'm actually staying away from the 3.76 auto tt diff, since I want something lower like the 6 speed diffs 3.13 or the JDM 6 speed 3.26. I was wondering if the GS400's 3.26 diff bolts in without swapping axles and if I will only need the 400s pumpkin. And since the GS's never came with an LSD (assumption), I was wondering If I use the GS400 rear pumkin, can I use just the LSD unit from an AUTO tt supra and swap it right in? What other options do I have ?

the 400's never came with LSD

so 400 owners either swap in supra lsd's or the TRD one.

very cool to do this mod..good luck, cant wait ti see the pics
