Default Please help!!! (Really means) Crank pulley bolt missing

Hello CL,
I've recently purchased a 97 SC300. I brought it in for a oil change and check up about 1-1 1/2 week after owning it. Everything checked out and was told car seems to be in great running condition, however the the crank pulley bolt was missing.

I was surprised and shocked and immediately worry set in...because i was driving around with this thing for a week. I've order a new one from toyota ($8), but won't be able to install until this weekend.

Does anyone know if the crank pulley will fly off if i continue to drive it like this for the next few days?

I've searched and only found lots of info on removing/installing. Thank you very much.

The tension and the fact that its been on there for a long time is whats keeping it on.

I wouldn't drive it though, at least go to the hardware store and find something to hold you over till the OEM bolt comes in. Seriously, it cant be more than a few minutes to install and torque down. I wouldn't wait.

Title your thread right next time. "Please Help" makes you sound like a girl who is standing on her toilet avoiding a spider.

Edit... Title fixed.

it could, and is a valid point of concern.
It's not the easiest to remove, but that means little to a pulley spinning at 3000 rpm,

i would NOT drive the car. even if it doesnt damage the engine from it falling out u have a mass of metal spinning at a few thousand RPM if it doesnt shoot thru your hood, it could rbounce off the ground and hurt a bystander or worse. wait it out till the oem bolt comes in

There is no way that thing is coming out.

Don't strand yourself because of naysayers.

do not drive it without bolt.. as crank snout heats up and pulley spinning at 3-6k rpm you could suffer losing your hood , radiator and shroud instead of waiting for bolt to arrive .. where in florida are u as i have a extra one

I get what your saying, I agree that the chances are slim during the time period. But I would never trust a 6-8lb hunk of spinning metal....old motor mounts....bumpy road. Who knows. Not worth the possibilities IMO

Yeah, don't drive it. Not only for the fact it might come off (not real likely), but you run the risk of damaging the crankshaft snout, keyway, ends up needing a new crank pulley or worse a new crankshaft. Really messy.
