Seafoamed 95 SC4 thru PCV-Does this clean both banks of cyl?
On Sunday I decided to use Seafoam on my son's 95 SC400 with 150K miles, and after reading posts here, decided to put it in via the PCV hose. I had used Seafoam before on different cars and always used a funnel, but because the PCV hose bent downward I decided to suck it out of a cup. I didn't know how quick it would suck it and I wasn't paying attention, so I had the hose in the cup when my son started the car and all 8 ozs. were sucked in in about 1 1/2 seconds, stalling the engine. I know what hydrolock is and thought if there was ever a situation to cause hydrolock, this was it so we waited 45 minutes hoping some would seep out past the rings, and although it was difficult to start, it started up and smoked like crazy and worked like it was supposed to. I wasn't sure if the seafoam really got spread around the first time, so we put the other 1/2 of the can it but I held the hose right near the surface of the Seafoam and regulated the intake more evenly, and once again, it started up and put out almost as much smoke as the first time, and the car runs better. My question is does putting Seafoam in throough the PCV hose just clean the bank of cylinders on the driver's side or does it clean all 8? If it only cleans the driver's side, can anyone recommend a vacuum line to clean the passenger's side bank? Thank you.
