New Lexus SC300 5sp, need to do 2JZ or 1JZ swap ASAP need help!
I just bought a 1993 Sc300 with a 5spd and a blow head gasket. I love the car but of course wanna do the turbo swap. I noticed online that all of the 2jz's are basically automatics. I want to keep this car a 5sp ( I know the 6sp Supra 2jz's are a little expensive). If anyone has any insight or a couple good places to look I would appreciate it! Also, did they only make the 5sp for the 2JZ twin turbo in Japan? Would my 5sp tranny bolt on a 2JZ GTE? Thanks!

Chandler, where do you live at? The stock sw58 will only be good to about 350hp to wheels right? Do you know any good places to get a 2JZ or 1JZ at a good price? Are there any reliability upside between the 1jz and 2jz from experience? Thanks

im in Tucson,
the w58 is okay, you can also switch to the r154 tranny which is found in mkIV na supras and soarer's!

But your w58 will work fine for stock power levels. I would consider an R154 or the V160 (supra 6-sp) if you're making over 400-450whp. If you make around that, it should be fine with the w58 as long as you don't launch really hard all the time.

um actually it does not have the r154 my friend... it has the w58
the mk3 had the w58 in the n/a r154 in the turbo and an a340e as an automatic
the mk4 had the w58 in the n/a v160 in the turbo v161 later on in japan and a341e slush box
