I've look at the manual but, typically, it's not clear enough for my old brain. When playing music files from a USB "stick" what exactly do we need to do to get it to play from all folders mixed randomly? I can't get it to play from anything but one folder. I can browse to another folder but it stays in that folder. The manual makes it sound like there's two different icons to tap to do this and when tapping them I can see the icon changes but what setting does what? I'm sure my rambling isn't very clear but hopefully its close enough that you understand what I'm trying to accomplish.
I haven't tried it myself, but from what the Multimedia manual says, it seems like you touch it once for random all, again to cancel, and again for current folder.

I'll have to look at this again as it seemed to me that pressing that particular icon it just goes from sort of blue, which I assume means on, to gray, which I assume means on. There's another icon at the far right that shows what kind of looks like circular arrows which I assumed indicated repeating and when you tap it it slightly changes through three different versions of the pictures but when showing each of the three versions it still only cycles through the files on that particular folder. I guess I could redo the file formatting to there are no folders put there are a lot and that would be a PITA.
After reading this thread, I put ~50 songs into a folder on a usb stick & plugged into my NX. When I select the music icon, it just shows the radio options (eg. AM FM), I don't see my folder. If I go to devices, it shows my phone, apple music & amazon music. When I push add device, it wants to connect to a bluetooth device (not a usb stick). What am I doing wrong?

I plugged the USB stick in to the front, right USB port above where some have the wireless charging deck, After doing that one of the sources is USB. To duplicate my issued you'd have to have files in multiple folders. Mine are sorted by artist: Prince, ZZ Top, Chaka Kahn, etc.. Once you select USB you're guided to select a folder, artist, genre, whatever. As far as I saw, you aren't able to play anything until you select one. I selected a folder and then the playback was locked in to the folder and wouldn't go out to the others.

Thanks for your response! It was my stick, old one works, newer samsung 3.0 didn't.
OK - I think I have a handle on this. They keys for this depend on the two icons on each side of the traditional play back buttons. One on the left looks like two crossed arrows and the one on the right looks like to circular bent arrows, or what I will call "the box". When I read the manual I thought you had to switch each of them for different combinations, and maybe you can but the following pretty much answers my question. As I said before, once you select USB as a source then click on browse you have to select something to get music to start. Now, assuming I can get pictures to post I'll try to explain what I found.
In this picture you'll see the left icon that looks like crossed arrows are grayed out and the box arrows are blue. This will play all the songs in the selected folder then move on to another. I don't know if it goes to the next folder in order like if you were to view it on a computer or a random folder.
In this picture the crossed arrows are blue and the box has something in the top right corner. In this setting it will replay only the songs in the current folder.
In this picture the crossed arrows are blue and the box is blue. This setting plays songs completely random from all over the USB stick. Different folder, different song.
You cycle through these settings by tapping only the crossed arrow icons.
Hope this helps, and I hope I remember this the next time I want to play music on my wife's car or she asks again how to do this.

Does it show album artwork when you use the USB option? Usually artwork is embedded in the file so it should show the album cover art on the screen unless the NX doesn’t recognize album artwork on USB? Can anyone confirm?

A lot of my files come from what I'll call "less than legitimate" sources so they may not have any artwork embedded. But I'll try to remember to look later.

I have the Mark Levinson and 14” screen and it can use Gracenote, which will display the artwork. Not sure if it’s included with all audio/screen combinations, but if so, there is a setting to use Gracenote. Not sure where in settings, but I assume audio.
