Has any company figured out how to access the Camera Feeds from the Front Grill and Digital Rear View Cameras to use as a Dashcam?

Who has these Dashcams or other models and how do you like them?

 

Japan Lexus has it built it so it means the software is there. Just not available in other markets.

 

I use VIOFO on pretty much all the cars that I have/had, not integrated so what, it works just fine.

 

This may expose my technical shortcomings.
We have a Cobra dash cam, we have used it successfully all across the US (MA to AZ), it records exceptional well and also takes video on demand. (in my wife’s Tucson)
But when reviewing the video’s on our computer, unless we wrote down the video’s locations, the locations are only shown by “coordinates”. Not by city, town, or state.
My wife suggested that I get a dash cam for my 25 NX, but not for me if I can’t identify the location easily.
Apple CarPlay Maps can show every detail, street names, towns, even Dunkin shops.

 

Some dash cams with built in GPS will provide computer video player apps that are capable of decoding the GPS coordinates from the video file and simultaneously display the car moving on Google Maps while you are watching the video (pretty much like you'd see if showing Google Maps in ACP or AA). The standard Windows video players don't pay attention to the encoded GPS info and does nothing with it, so you need a (sort of) special video player app.

 

I purchased two 2025 NX350h's this summer, and after some research installed FitcamX dashcams in both. The installation was a snap, about 20 minutes, and I'm completely satisfied with the video/picture quality.
The price was $225 CAD through Amazon. The FitcamX website was very helpful in selecting the correct model of camera for each Lexus model.

 

Another Viofo fan here. Best resolution of any dashcam I've ever used, and I've used a number of them.

 

Hi dano1234. Another individual had some issues with Fitcam. Any problems? Our '26 350h came with the Panoramic Mirror. The Fitcam site doesn't specify whether the dongle works with this. Did your cars have this rear view mirror by chance? Thanks!

 

My NX has the digital mirror. No effect from the FIT Cam X installation, the replacement cable that comes with the kit fits fine. I did forgo the rear camera, though, as it would sit really low on the rear window, Front only works fine for me. Like others here, though, would prefer the plethora of cameras that come on the car would work for this purpose instead of having to add a separate gizmo.

 

Ditto, it fits very nicely behind the rear view mirror. The digital mirror doesn't take up much (if any) additional room that the std regular mirror.

 

I Use Garmins...I have the 35, 55, 67, etc. Learn how to use them. If I want to review I take the SD card out and insert into the Mac, My DashCams recored a right right runner that T-boned me. Got them on the front and back cameras. Saved me from being charged/sued.
