Default New Lexus Dash Cam

Does anybody used a new Lexus dash cam or have any insight if it's worth it, and if it can be installed on an already purchased car (ESh 2023)?
I've seen it as a factory installed options on ES 300h Luxury configurations and it seems to be different from the older genuine dash cam https://www.lexus.com/drivers/resources/dashcam

I have seen some initial info on it and I dig it. I currently have a FitCamX which integrates even nicer and looks factory. I would be interested in seeing some actual reviews of the new official Lexus cam.

But really they should use the existing camera that's used for lane centering and the new software and just have it built-in to the car like BMW, Tesla, Porsche, etc.

I currently have FitCamX on both my 2021 ESes owned from brand new. You can see my original post here. Best dash cam i've used since running cams since 2014. Haven't stopped since. it's saved me in at least three critical times.

I can say it works excellent. I'd buy one for the rear if they made one. I'd also buy additional FitCams if they offered them. FitCamX, if you're listening...

also tip: get the low(er) res cam. it's the superior choice.

I have a FitcamX as well. I installed it myself, front and rear. The front camera is 4K and the rear HD.
It's available on Amazon. The price is reasonable. AND IT LOOKS OEM

Do you know how much and which model is compatible?
Hopefully it's not $999 + $499 installation fee LOL

Honestly, aftermarket is probably better. I'm willing to bet that aftermarket cameras such as Blackvue, Vantrue, FitcamX, etc. use higher quality lenses than what OEM uses and at the fraction of the cost.

The FitCamX may be the best deal out there. I bought one for my wife's '22 ES350 FSport and liked it so much that I got one for my '22 GX. The front is 4K and the rear 1080p.
I did the installation myself.
For the ES, The front is simple and takes about a half hour. slip off the window bezel for the mirror/GPS sensors and the FitCam is a direct replacement bezel that looks OEM. Nothing hanging down in anyone's face. They use a plug-in harness that simply plugs into the factory harness and then slide the new bezel in place.
The Rear was a bit trickier and having some panel tools handy ($8-$10 on Amazon) helps. I ran my cable above the headliner and the 2 issues I encountered were 1- There was a lot of cable to hide 2- The front A-pillar trim uses a folding retainer that events the airbag from hitting you in the head when the airbag goes off, it took me a bit to figure out that I had to fold the retainer strap back into the clip.
2- The GX was not a big deal either. The front pillar uses a different retainer and was easier. For the rear, the issue was getting through the rubber conduit with the other wires, you just need to be careful. And I used 2 small screw to mount it on the plastic bezel instead of tape.

Amazon Amazon

Can you Please post a couple of pictures of it, especially the rear? I've been thinking of one of these with the rear cam but was wondering how it looked? Is the video pretty clear when viewing it?

Thanks in advance!

The "4k" is software upscale and for most part they are garbage. It is good marketing BS. The hardware components on these dash cams are using 5 year old tech:

The VIOFO A119 for less than $100 put a lot of pricier ones to shame. It isn't "oem" looking as Fitcam but it gets the job done for a lot less $$$.

I have a fitcamx 4k and, while it blends in really well, the quality is awful. Especially for night driving. I emailed the company and they provided me a firmware update but I haven't installed it yet. If it doesn't help I'm considering switching back to a Garmin camera

The update may improves it a bit but most likely not what you expect. At the core it is a hardware problem or rather antique hardware limitation so there is only so much software can do. If you watch the video Linus goes into more details.
