Key Fob Battery
If you replace yourself, when you insert the metal key into the plastic slot, make sure you push in kind of hard as you rotate. If you don't push in, you might strip the plastic.
You can get 5 batteries for $5.20 here. You can store them new for 5-10 years.
There's a "low battery usage" mode. Useful if you're not driving the car everyday. Press and hold "lock", then press "unlock" once. You see a light blink 4 times.

Very curious, @ChattanoogaPhil , how long do you have to wait and where do you go to get the "Expert Installation". You are going to have to do a whole lot of battery replacements to get you money's worth.
YMMV,

It uses a CR2032 lithium battery and replacement is very simple. A flat blade screw driver pops open the key fob, replace battery pop back together. At Amazon they are $0,60 to $1,24 each.

BatteriesPlus is in the Hamilton Place shopping mall area on Gunbarrel. It's not an inconvenience as the wife is regularly in the area. I doubt there's much if any wait. The previous owner told her B+ replaced the key fob batteries every couple years. Wife is happy for $30. Worth every penny...

I used to change mine myself. Now I have a calendar reminder to change them each January 1st. I go to BatteriesPlus.
Last 5K mile service, the dealership offered to replace the battery. I had just had it done at BatteriesPlus, so I said no. They auto-piloted and did it anyway (it was only $2.50 for the battery, so not a big deal). Since they changed it, I was having all sorts of "key not detected" problems when starting. Sometimes I was also unable to lock or unlock the doors with the fob. I went to BatteriesPlus and put in a new battery again last week. Now it all works again.

If you can use a key to unlock the entry door to your home you should be able to replace the battery in your key fob. It's that easy. One very important rule, never buy cheap dollar store batteries, it's not worth it. Always check the expiration date on package of battery make sure its several years out, as batteries can go stale sitting on the shelf in a store.
The video is less than 2 minutes long, so it's not that hard and no tools needed with Lexus fob either!
Here's how to replace Card Key battery too.
Be careful to use correct battery part number too! It's a CR2032. There is a CR 2025 (wrong one!) coin style battery which may work in the fob but it's not as powerful and dies quickly.

" What’s the difference between CR2032 and CR2025 batteries?
The obvious difference between the two battery types would be thickness. The CR2032 is 3.2mm thick while the CR2025 is 2.5mm thick. Because the CR2032 is 0.7mm thicker than the CR2025, it has a higher capacity (mAh) to deliver current to the load. A standard CR2032 can nominally deliver 225mAh while the average CR2025 can nominally only deliver 160mAh. Due to the smaller capacity, the thinner battery may not last as long and may need to be replaced sooner."Last edited by TheCDN; Jul 21, 2025 at 04:24 PM.
