Default servo motor failures?

I know that the servo motor fails quite often on older Lexus vehicles including GS, NX and a number of other vehicles.

Anyone experience this issue yet?

I've never even heard of this being a thing where it's a common failure problem of any Toyota or Lexus. I mean I've watched videos of them being replaced and it's a huge - take apart the complete dash - sort of thing. But typically the cause of failure was because someone dropped a pen or candy or coins down into the guts of the hvac through the top dash vents. The failure of the AC condenser inside the dash is usually more typical. They sometimes get a slow leak and aren't easily detected since the leaking refrigerant usually goes down the drain tube of the water condensate line and out the bottom of the car.

Lightbulb servo failure probably not to worry

reference is to a 2015 model car. not characteristic failure, also have no idea of car mileage ?

Servos should last a long, long time.

YMMV,

For my 2018 LC 500, I had the HVAC Servo Motor Malfunction as described in the L-SB-0009-22 where they had to clean the servos and regreased as a first step resolution October 2024. It worked temporarily . However, the malfunction returned so they now have to replace the malfunctioning servo motor as described by the service bulletin.

Not sure if Lexus/Toyota re-engineered this. Most people won't see the issues till the vehicle gets older.

True, it's an older topic and I've seem on many threads including Toyota ones.

My 2012 Lexus ISF had a problem with the A/C. It would blow cold out of the center console into the back seat. But all of the front outlets blew warm

My car spent 3 weeks in the dealership while Lexus tried to fix. They ended up changing all of the servos on the car.

I think you are exaggerating just a little

The power seats have servos.
The steering column adjustment has servos : up and down , in and out
The mirrors have servos.
The rear hatch has servos.
The door locks have servos.
The ACC has servos.

Everything, that has any mechanical movement controlled by electronics has servos

There are probably many more systems, besides the HVAC and the above items that I mentioned that have servos. I would bet money that Lexus did not replace all the servos. More likely Lexus may have replaced most of the servos associated with the HVAC system. But even so, Lexus technicians would have replaced only the failed servos or those that tested marginally in the HVAC system. You said they replaced all the servos. It would be extremely costly both parts and labor wise to even replace all of the servos associated with the HVAC systems.

Anyway, I a glad you finally got it fixed.

YMMV,

Good idea to get them all replaced. There was a high failure rate on some vehicles. It's expensive to do the AC since it's more involved in removing parts.
