I agree i watched him too since he was lesser known, doing videos from his house. he is a great master toyota and lexus technician. I do agree the old NX had a nicer look. It looked put together and business like.

anyway love the design of the 1st gen front end. i wish 2nd gen was sleek like this. i don't like how 2nd gen headlights have the crimp in the corner. like a pinch. usually it seems lexus tends to do that on purpose-- pre build little weird edges/corners on headlights or taillights with the intent of making them straight, modern with the refresh. planned obsolescence. think pre-facelift Gen 1 NX tail lights. i am pretty sure the refresh one day will remove that little pinch. though i hadn't watched this video yet, so i'm not sure what CCN said about the front of the 2nd gen.

Styling with anything is always subjective. Some people may really like the piano black. I'm not a big fan so I added this 2 piece trim set that goes around the shifter on the center console and goes up around the Drive Mode ****. It's finished in a matte black wood grain that fits perfect, looks good and looks original. I also added the Alcantara suede cover for the leather shift **** that fits snug and tight and feels good in your hand.

Can you link the console cover? Looks way better than the fake wood one I bought.

You should at least compare F Sport with F Sport.

This is vastly superior to either version of gen 1.

I kind of miss the real wood trim pieces and steering wheel inside my RX. It seems wood trim was all the rage in that time period, many Lexus vehicles had them, but I guess its completely obsolete styling now. The only styling element that would actually fall into the "leave it" side of the take it or leave it column for me is the lower trim piece below the grill. Almost like a modern version of a cowcatcher (or a step for short people to check oil) it just looks so delicate and frilly and detracts from the overall sportiness and styling lines of the NX. I think the front look would be dramatically improved by just having a simple understated trim piece along the bottom that doesn't force your eyes off the rest of the front end design. I can't not see it and I want to.

I actually had a RAV4 on order for a few months based partially on liking the front grill much better. But fortunately at the time the RAV4 was so hard to get (up to 8 mths for gas, and upwards of 18 mths for the hybrid) that I gradually become accepting of the NX front and got over my worry I'd have that piece snapped off in the first month of ownership. I also successfully questioned myself whether long term I would regret not going back to a Lexus, so here I am...

still don't like the headlight pinch, despite the f sport bumper.

i prefer the 1st gen styling. i like how on the 1st gen, its hood meets the grill abruptly and the grill goes all the way down with a clean flush edge without a separate slotted section. just way too busy on the 2nd gen. 1st gen is all around a cleaner design.

the new interior is better than the old interior though ill give it that. i like a lot of the older styling. Like the GX, i prefer the last version. The LX, same thing. RX, same thing. a lot of the new design language, light bars, light pinches, whale bumps, dimple grill etc doesn't strike me like last Gen Lexus design which like the LC, is cleaner, angular, leaner. a lot of the new stuff has bubbles, bumps, pinches etc.

ive still yet to watch this ccn video. hes a known and liked fellow in the toyota world so it should be interesting to hear his take.

Let’s start by acknowledging that the second-generation NX has significantly outsold its predecessor. There are likely several reasons for this, with one of the most notable being the improved hybrid system. Additionally, the design overhaul played a major role in its appeal. Personally, I was never drawn to Lexus—not due to concerns about reliability, but because of the styling. In my opinion, the exterior design of previous models always felt like it was missing something. However, the second-generation NX has completely changed that perception. The front-end redesign is particularly impressive, giving the vehicle a more refined and modern look.

Furthermore, it’s worth noting that the new NX has attracted a younger demographic of buyers. This suggests that younger customers, who often prioritize aesthetics, have been drawn to the updated design. Overall, I believe the second-generation NX not only looks significantly better than the first generation but also brings a fresh and stylish presence to the Lexus lineup.
