Default 2025 NX350 Tailgate

Just purchased a 2025 NX350 and have a question about the lock button on the tailgate. When I push the button and it just beeps and doesn't close or lock the vehicle.

You have to leave the area relatively quickly and make sure the key is not in the hand that presses the button (otherwise it may think you have left the key in the trunk), the lid will not close until you are 2 or 3 M (yrds) away from the vehicle. If you just stand there it will beep and give up after a few seconds. If you approach the vehicle again while the door is closing, it will stop.

This is completely different than the normal close which will happily close as long as you don't physically get in the way of the moving door. This operation does seem non-intuitive, and it is. It took me a couple months after I got mine to really figure out exactly what to do to make it happy. Kinda dumb in my opinion, but it is what it is.

The gate on ours is temperamental also.

I use the left button and manually lock by touching the rear door handle
