Default Probably a silly question -

What’s the purpose of the rear view mirror camera view?

Digital view... have you seen it? I have not used it but it's realtime. Great view of what's behind the NX..... But it has to tilted and re-tilted. Very distracting to drive with. My .o2

BTW... there are no silly questions.

Some people are not happy with the loss of depth perception with the digital mirror. Something to test for yourself.

Interesting. Haven’t used it yet as I just picked up the car today. Is it intended for higher speeds and highway driving? Do people leave it on all the time and use it instead of using like a normal mirror or only use it in certain situations?

I've only used it on one trip when I had a bunch of stuff hauled in the trunk and blocking my vision. It does take some getting used to, so I don't have it on outside of that kind of situation.

Usually used when the back seat is with a person. Some people love this feature and some people can't focus on it.

When I got my car I setup the mirror position to be able to switch between the two, but never have I ever switched it to mirror other than just testing. In fact, I ended up repositioning the mirror to optimally display the cam image directly to me, rather than being adjusted to see out the back. Yes, it will take a few weeks to get used to the new perspective. During the day the display is superior to the mirror, see everything clearly. During night driving its not quite as clear as the mirror (gets grainy sort of like night vision view, but not quite as sensitive), but I find it good enough not to bother switching to mirror. Once you do get used to it, hard to go back to the partially obstructed view of a mirror.

The only thing that I haven't quite overcome completely, in lower lighting conditions when a car passes going the other way, their tail lights can create a streak (I guess the refresh on the display is a bit slow) of red light. When this happens in peripheral vision, it can seem like flashing red lights which are harder to get used to without reacting.

It definitely helps if the cargo area is loaded up or if a person is sitting in the middle back seat. It does take some getting used to. I actually use it so I don't have to adjust the rearview mirror after my wife drives.

I can’t imagine going back to the normal mirror system.

As others noted--takes a bit getting used to. Especially if you wear glasses (at least it was for me). But--after a few days I adjusted to it and use it now exclusively.

Yes, I agree 100%. I do wear glasses and it did take me a couple drives to get used to it. As you, I now use it exclusively.

I’m far sighted and so the camera rear view doesn’t work well for me since it’s slightly blurry (without my reading glasses). Since I’m looking at something close to me. The mirror view is sharp since I’m looking at something far away.
So at first I thought it was kinda cool, but don’t really use it.

I initially found it quite disconcerting but after a few hours it was almost as if it learned my eye movements (of course it will be the other way around) but now I would not be without it. My wife still has not come to terms with it though, so constantly switching over as we change driver. One thing I found. It that it is essential to adjust the non-electronic view first - then switch over and it is much more stable.

Same here. I love it and was one of the options I wanted when purchasing. The wife doesn't like it for the reasons stated in this thread. So we do the switch thing in my family as well. I love the clarity of the view. No second guessing. I just wish with this technology, why you can't tap into the signal going from the back to the front and attach a recorder to it somehow. Come on all you smart people, figure this out and you could be the next rich person. I'd buy it!!!!
