Just received a text message from Keith@LexusofMelbourne (Florida). They received an UNRESERVED Lexus NX 450H+ they are trying to get rid of. If you or know of anyone looking for a new 450H+ give them a call or email.
His number is 321-252-0083. Tell them Don said to call.
The extra cost for the 450 plug in plus $10,000 premium would take a minimum of 20 years to pay off.
The $10,000 Premium is Negotiable. I negotiated mine down with this dealer. They have the Premium because being a Florida Dealer, they are allocated 1 - 450H+ per MFY (that was what they told me). You can't order a 450H+ in the state of Florida. That model is reserved for the Blue states that have an EV law in place.
I paid cash so mine won't take 20 years to pay off.

Eventually production will be enough. And the price point too high. They will be more of them available. Plus, the new RZ is out and a plug in RX in coming.
Hopefully by December of 2024 a Black on Caviar will be available to purchase. If not, I will get a 250 and use the leftover 40K to buy gas for a couple decades

This begs the question of what are the reasons to get an EV or plug-in hybrid. If it’s cost, then I agree it’s not a good reason. But philosophically one could ask whether the 350h, eg, is worth the cost over a car that is $10k less expensive. Maybe not? The cost rationale may never allow a more expensive car to ever be truly justifiable.
To me, getting the 450h+ allows me to produce a bit less CO2 (assuming the electricity source is not coal). And the 450h+ has more power, torque than the 350h. And its driving dynamics are better. To me, it’s worth the extra cost.

And sometimes, just because we like it is justification enough.
My dad bought a new Hyundai Sante Fe Calligraphy - ICE, and I just bought a new 350h Luxury. I have driven both now quite a bit. The difference in price is about 10k. Both are wonderful cars and the Sante Fe has a number of features that are significantly better than my Lexus. However, I would pay the extra 10k all day everyday if I had the choice each time.
Over the course of a 100k miles the fuel savings will translate to about 3k so that knocks that 10k down a bit. Longevity the Lexus wins and the 14" screen that now looks like it is part of the dashboard and not a tablet stuck on the dash, is second to none. While the Sante Fe does win in some important features, the Lexus wins in many others. The drive of the Lexus is just "nicer" too. Not that the SF is bad, but the Lexus wins on the drive test.
Now 10k is nothing to sneeze at. If that $ is a driving factor you would not go wrong with that SF but if you do spend that extra $ you will probably be glad you did in the long run.

That's not accurate... For starters I purchased my 450+ in July of 2022 and got a Tax Credit of $7500. In one years time I've only put in fuel in my car twice and I see gas currently in my area hovering around five dollars a gallon. So again 20 years ? I think not... and I've driven mine in one year 8,000 miles.

@darkloki Good point. I completely forgot about the tax credit I'll get this year. Curious how you got the $7,500 credit. I have the paperwork gathered for the EV Charger and Install BUT I'm not aware there is a credit for the vehicle also. Can you post or PM me with the details? You got my attention with this one.
I've owned my 23-450H+ since April 7th 2023 and have 7 fuel ups. You must live in the city in order to only have fueled up twice in a year. I live in a rural area and it's a complete EV use to get to town and home. Anything outside that, it's burning fuel. But I'm not complaining, I love this car (except for the electronics).
