Hi all, I see on the website that the engine immobilizer comes with the 2023 nx350, but the sales person said it's an option which costs about $1600. So which is it?
Sounds like they are offering you an aftermarket immobilizer as well. There is one built in, but am.not sure how effective it is. I have a flashing red light in the center of the dash by the windshield which operates when the car is shut off. Apparently they enhanced ant theft things for.this generation but they can't tell us all.the details as the bag guys would then find out.

The salesman said the car doesn't come with a security alarm.

An immobilizer is not the same thing as a security alarm. Alarms make noise, immobilizers make quiet. The built in immobilizer in theory prevents the car from being wired to bypass the need for a key. The aftermarket ones usually add extra tasks to perform or devices to have otherwise the engine computer is disabled, I guess depending on the unit.

did you get it on your nx350? if so, how much did you pay for it?
I had a 3rd party immobilizer but after it failed twice, had it removed yesterday. The installation shop represents this one and all kinds of others including Viper. He didn't try to sell me any other brand as he is convinced that all the aftermarket units won't work properly, yet, in this new generation of Lexus. He has a GS and another employee has an IS, so they know these cars. His opinion is until they (aftermarket manufacturers) guarantee to him that their units work in our cars, he isn't going to install any. So my advice is to wait. I have a club like bar with a combination code (not the key). Let's hope that is enough for now along with the newness of the system that the thieves haven't yet figured out how to steal them. I spoke with my insurance company today to inform them that I no longer have the immobilizer, a massive $10.00 per year savings!. I asked if they were aware of any new generation RX/NX being stolen and this agent wasn't. Take that for what it's worth, though.

I saw a story on the news yesterday where these two guys recently broke into an SUV and spent 20 minutes trying to start the car. Idiots. the owners called the cops and they came and arrested one of them. they were not successful in starting the car cause....... guess why.
well I got the engine immobilizer for half price. you should try for a bit more than 50% off.
curious about your experience with this? Is it just another built in redundancy to immobilize the engine? For instance if there is a CAN attack will this add an extra level of complication?
