Thumbs down New Lexus APP complaint

With the new IOS app you must have a paid subscription to download directions from phone to car. What BS. $50,000 car and they nickel and dime you for this.
That's ok, since the GPS is so bad I use my phone and have no interest in paying for a map update. What crap. I think this car is an overrated Toyota RAV 4. Under powered, weak trans, terrible fog lights, rattles and all. Going back to BMW.

No manufacturer's GPS system will be updated as frequently as those with smartphone apps (Google Maps, Apple Maps, and Waze).

As far as power goes, I have no complaints. I test drove the NX I bought on several occasions for more than an hour total, over all kinds of roads and environments to make sure it was right for me. My fog lights have been fine. I have no rattles, but if I did, I'd take it to the dealer. My wife has done this on several occasions with a former RX.

I believe most manufactures are moving in this direction, my Audi requires subscription for most features on the app and Acura as well once the free trial expires. Can't see BMW being any different but my buddy works for them, let me ask lol. The communication between app to vehicle isn't free and of course manufactures are going to pass that burden to the customer before taking the hit.

Sad to see you go but I'll take those pitfalls for RAV4 reliability, my Audi already needs a water pump for a 2018 with only 26K miles (warranty just expired so I'm on my own), haven't done a thing to my NX beside regular maintenance and it just hit 40K. BMW? Unless it's a 2003 E39 M5, I won't touch one, best of luck to you.

Don’t you get tied of posting the same thing OVER AND OVER. I know I get tired of reading it.

PS. The destination entry is free on my vehicles app. Maybe you need to step up your game.

Can’t believe I’m replying to a troll, but I’m not even clear what functionality you’re referring to. As far as I know you can’t use the app the way you describe - to create directions that you download to the car. Destination Assist let’s you talk to a live operator who will download directions to the car. You don’t need the app for this. Dynamic Nav keeps the car gps maps updated. These are both subscriptions, though I have 3 year free service with my 2021. BMW will charge you subscription fees too, so clearly it’s just the Lexus you dislike.

I’ve had BMWs, Audis (my wife currently drives an A4), Volvos, and one Saab that was a blast to drive but was a mechanical monster. All of these cars were maintenance nightmares compared to Lexus/Toyota. I decided I had better ways to spend my time and money.

Clearly BMW or whatever is a status thing with you- So go by a ****ty Bimmer.

Not talking about the GPS. I would not waste money on that. I am talking about the old Enform App has been changed and you cant download to the car without a paid subscription. They have scrubbed functionality in exchange for squeezing us for money

Sorry to hear about those issues and yeah that is not a good way to make customers happy by charging for that once free feature. Honestly, I used that app only a couple times but then switched to a screen mirroring setup where I can view my phone on the screen for anything I need. I control it using a Bluetooth mouse for a great experience. You can also explore Android Auto to Carplay add ons to use the native touchpad controls.

The ratting is odd to hear, we have three NXs in the family between my wife, my parents and my in-laws and none have any issues.

I think the transmission is actually great, even compared to the 8 speed in my GS. While I think the power and it's delivery in the NX is fine for our family, and even a bit fun when I drive the car alone once in awhile, there are tuning options available that can dramatically increase the fun factor. I have a tune in my GS with the same engine and it's been a night and day difference.

Best of luck, either way you decide to go.
