Default New Tires time

I have a 2015 NX Sport with 27,000 miles. 3 of my 4 tires are balding esp. near outside side of tire. Normal for this milage? I have 1 tire that was replaced by the dealer 7 months after buying due to a slow leak caused by a nail. The dealer told me that tire is fine. Odd to me that that tire didn't wear like the rest.

The tires that my new 2015 NX came with are Bridgestone Dueler H/L, 235/55r18 100V.

2 questions:
1) replace all 4 even though lexus guy says the 1 is ok?
2) stay with same brand/model or recommend something else?

I use car to get to point a to point b, etc....... as you can see I don't do a lot of driving as I work from home. Mostly local.

Thanks!

Sounds like your car is out of alignment. Have the alignment checked when you put on the new tires. Go with the 3 tires if you can match the tire the dealer put on 7 months ago.

1) Replace all 4 + alignments.

2) Get a different brands that gives you better mileage and comfort since all stock OEM tires are not that great.

The rate of your tire wear is inconsistent with your relatively low mileage: I still drive my first sets of summer & winter tires after 84000 miles (say 42000 miles per set), and they are still good to go. Alignment seems to be the main issue indeed, but this is the first thing your dealer should have checked.

After the alignement has been checked and restored (the dealer needs a special instrument to do this), I recommend to replace all 4 tires !

Temperature also has a big influence on wear, hot temperatures softening the rubber. I assume you regularly check the tire pressure: too low, or too high pressure are the main culprits of single-sided tire wear!

Your car aliment must be out of wack.
I had to replace OEM Michelin's at 36K miles due to one tire shredded (I could not stop on freeway on time). All tires were at 5/32, so I could make 45-50K miles on these, and I am somewhat aggressive driver.
Replacement tires are Pirelli P7 Cinturato. Great tires, quiet, grippy. Recommend.

Before getting an alignment get the suspension inspected. It takes just one major pothole hit to mess up something somewhere in these modern suspension setups. (shocks, struts, toelinks, bushings, springs, camber. swaybar links and whatnot). On tire rack select the 'passenger touring' class of tires of major brands like Michelin. Finally get the tires installed from a shop that does hunter road force balancing. (if you have a choice of installer).

Yes, check and keep proper air pressure. Only Lexus can do the alignment?

Interesting feedback, thanks. I checked with my service person who I trust prior to my post about this and he said its common to replace the tires at 25-30K miles (prob all OEM).

Update: bought new tires today and got alignment. Front left was pretty “off”, which more than likely caused premature wear on my tires. How often should u have your alignment checked? Thanks all for your great feedback on this post.
