Default Rust Proofing + Drill holes

Hi all, winter is almost here and I'm trying to prepare my NX. Was wondering if any of you have done rust proofing and have had holes drilled? I'm a little hesitant on the drilling and kind of just want the under body and wheel wells done.

Also, I found these caps on the driver's and passenger's door. I did have rust proofing a couple years ago but do not recall drilling or not. Was wondering if anyone else has these caps on their front doors and what's the purpose. Maybe I did have holes drilled 2 years ago and these are the caps they used to cover the holes up?

I could have sworn that I saw a post that mentioned those are for lights available in another region...but my memory isn't that good these days.

I just checked our 2015 NX, we have the same plugs. We have not had any rust proofing done, we have very little snow/ice here in north Texas.

Bodies and panels/doors of all modern cars, Lexus specifically, are now made from double galvanized steel (with zinc). No need to have additional rustproofing. In fact, if you drill the hole, you break zinc layer and expose bare steel, which is more dangerous.

Unless you keep your cars for very long, no need to rust proof. That being said, I️ do use fluid film every season, but don’t drill. Just the aerosol can and spray in the doors through the drain holes and behind the fenders and underneath on the subframe as well

This is what I'm doing but bought a rust proofing spray gun and buy fluid film by the gallon. Once a year throw the vehicle up on my lift and coat the vulnerable parts on the underside.

^ if it didn’t need a compresor I’d be doing the same. Personally I think drilling holes is a bit much for most cars, but that’s just me.
