Default 10K Service Went Wrong

So I received a letter from Lexus saying that It is time to go for a 10k service, I have 8k only but previous service was done at 3k, so I think its time, I also wanted to do 200t brake hold recall anyway.

1. At the dealership I was told that this is my last complimentary service, although this is a CPO car and this is my first service with this car, so I googled and found the same info I was given at the time of purchase, 20k every 5k or 6 months service covered for CPO cars, I was told to go to sales person who should know better, I spoke the them and they told me the same info as service technician... once I showed them official CPO warranty info from Lexus website they had to admin that it is 4 services total.

2. While I was talking to a service technician(?) he tried to sell me a cabin air filter with sanitation (usually 300$ something, today only 189), I refused, then I googled and found that cabin air filter replacement is part of 10k service, so I went back asking why did they try to sell it to me, this time technician argued that he was asking $189 for sanitation only. OK, I asked him to make sure they replace cabin air filter as it is part of 10k service.

3. I received a call, my car was ready for pickup, went back to the dealership, asked again what was done, checked the paper and didn't find cabin air filter on it, mentioned it to a technician, he told me that he doesn't understand those part numbers on the papers, but cabin air filter is part of 10k service and was replaced, asked technician again if the cabin air filter was replaced and got positive response. OK, I took my car and drove it 1 minute away from the dealership, opened the hood checked the oil level and its color, opened glove box, removed the door and took out the filter, now I need your opinion, do you think this is a new filter?

Is this even the right filter size for this car?

I'd call the Sales /or Service manager & tell them about the crappy service! If that doesn't go anywhere, I'd contact Lexus & tell them this dealer isn't living up to Lexus standards for their service work!
Just had my 10K service done, (only 5355 miles on it!!) & all went well. Oil change, rotate tires, topped off low brake fluid, replaced cabin filter, washed car & cleaned my WeatherTech floor mats no problem!

Wow. I would definitely complain of their dishonesty and lack of professionalism. Unless you drove through tons of leaves, that filter doesn't look new. It also doesn't look the right size if it's bent like that towards the top. Like already mentioned, talk to service manager first, then escalate to Lexus Corporate if needed. They should also provide a coupon or credit for future services for this inconvenience.

The 10k is due and I'm only at 6k. I asked how much was going to cost me they said around $180.00 then I asked what was done at 10k they said only tire rotation, brake inspection, top off fluids. I already did the oil change on the past visit. I think I'm going to pass on this one. You can buy most of the filter online, they are cheaper, also the cabin air filter has charcoal so it looks kind of gray, but definitely the leaves confirms the he didn't bother to check the filter.

If you purchased your Lexus new, then the 5K/6 months and 10K/12 months service is complimentary. The 5K/6 months service is the one that only includes tire rotation inspections, and fluids. 10K miles/12 months service is oil and filter change, cabin filter, tire rotation, inspections, and fluids

Due to your low mileage, you're going by number of months rather than number of miles...so you must be at the 15K/18 months interval. My family and I usually skip those since you can easily get tire rotations done for free at tire shops, and there's really nothing to inspect.

FYI to everyone, alignment and balancing is covered for 12 months/12K miles, so the 10K/12 months service is a good one for you to have them perform an alignment service.
Also, if you guys ever take your cars in for service bulletins or recalls, drop your car off with an empty tank and request them to fill it up. It's complimentary for the "inconvenience."

I wouldn't even bother calling the service manager because he allows this activity to occur. The reason why I say that is because Lexus covers the filter costs and the dealer has incentive to install the filtter because they will be reimbursed for the filter. And like I said if you they do not realize that they are just incompetent or committing fraudulent acts to increase revenue and it's not worth your time.

I would go right to the owner or corporate VP. If no reasonable response then chalk this dealership up to incompetency. Life is just too short to be haggling over a freaking stupid air filter.

Obviously they didn't replace your cabin filter. The "filter element" on your RO is the oil filter (by looking at the part number), nothing there mentioned anything about cabin filter.

I'd write to Lexus head office to complain about this dealership's dishonesty and crappy service, email them pictures, show them proof.

Hi All,
We are thinking to get NX so Im looking this forum for some time,
Currently I have Benz ML350BT, I was expecting reliable service from premium segment but in the past I had to go back to Service manager because oil filter wasn't replaced or even better diesel fuel filter. For now if possible I mark parts before service and taking pictures.
Im not sure why, but I see it as a very common thing now for all dealers. They trying to do the minimum, just to keep the car pass the warranty time.
If car is on the road for more than 5 years it very bad for manufacturer, thats why oil changes now 10 or even 25K in Europe.

Agreed with you. But not all have place and all tools.
I have started to use Vacuum pump for oil changes. Much less mess.

YES.

The invoice will omit more detailed items of the service from my experience. The 5K mile service included a tire rotation that WAS NOT on the invoice, and I took it back to the dealer the next morning. I couldn't tell since all the tires look the same and I did not mark the tires. The service manager even reassured me that the tires were rotated and even showed me a video of the tech removing the tires.

The service manager explained to me that since the tire rotation is part of the 5K maintenance "package," it did not need to be listed individually on the invoice.

A 50k service was supposedly done on my CPO NX200t. It shows on the service history from the dealership. It does not show on the Lexus Owner service history. Oil looks clean, air filter looks new, but cabin filter looks worse than yours, so I ordered a couple from Amazon for $5 each. Can not believe as easy and cheap as it is to replace a cabin filter that they don't change it. I have been doing my own maintenance on these easy things for a while, so it will be nice to have four free Lexus maintenances done over the next two years or 20,000 miles. Plus roadside assistance and/or trip interruption insurance:-)
